new xl

i just got the savage xl and noticed that the spur gear and clutch bell have no play in them and when i roll it backwards it kinda make a weird gear noise wondering if anyone knows if that is regular or not

your mesh sounds a bit tight. should be around a .4mm-ish amount of play between the Spur & cb. see if this vid helps (middle of the page) http://www.hpiracing.com/kits/updates.php?partNo=858
