Can't go wrong with JL!!

Fitted an Alpine fold out screen (IVA D310) Genisis Amp, Boston Front Components and W3 V3 The other day, That was freaking awesome! THe ammount of dynamat used was a tad scary tho...
:jamout::jamout::jamout:

Yeah I want to get a fold out one with DVD and possibly navigation but that is farther down the road for now. Right now that is a JVC KD-S690 headunit (older model but 100x's better than what I had) and a 300w jensen amp with a 350w alpine amp pushing the 2 JL's. The 2 JL's are just the w1's but man they hit pretty hard for being in the huge ramcharger....They really surprised me.

yea, my buddy had some w1s in the back of his imprezza and I was pretty impressed with the sound they put out. especially when he told me what he paid for them.. not to shabby

IMHO In hearing w1's w3's and w6's (not heard a w7 🙁 ) the only difference in upgrading is better sq. Spl wise, they both shift some air, but I just really like the w3 v3, as teh new design on the cone looks sweet as!

Yeah I plan to get some newer JL's or something better in a few months but I just might wait since these are doing much better than I thought that they would. I really want some Fi BTL 18's but those are for another story.....lol

W7s are straight up disgusting man. I went to a car show and a guy had 4 in the back of a S-10 blazer and I had to get away from it. It was just to friggin loud.

lol.....

I came in yesterday after listening to some heavy bass songs and my parents said they could hear it from inside......

These aren't extremely loud but for the price I paid I am happy. When I get a nicer truck or whenever I get out of the house I will get nicer stuff.....but until then I would get yelled at from my parents....

Had a BMW in the other week, tech built a boot enclosure-he had to remove the back window to fit two orion 15's in...The enclosure was 2" MDF. That thind was ridiculously loud. It made the roof vibrate! 😱

More Sq than Spl, personally. Guy at work has an Alipine H/U running a kicker 5ch which runs Focal 130A in the front and genisis 6 1/2" mid drivers and a W3V3 in the boot. He rags that and it's amazingly clean and clear up to stupid volume! :-D

yea man, if you're looking for a inexpensive but pretty good SQ I've been told 5 channels are the way to go. I've never used one but I'd like to to try it out ya know.

where would you even get 2"MDF? The thickest I've seen is 3/4 I've heard of guys gluing two sheets together for 1 1/2" but 2".. seems like over kill. I think I would have told him to just go get some quikrete and call it a day. That BMW has to be saggin in the back end.
I had 4 15" kickers in the back of my Thunderbird I used to have and it no joke lowered the back end about 2-3 inches. It looked ridiculous. Stupid loud though.

Correctomundo. 19mm (3/4") and 12.. (1/2") Sheets Glued together. It was a sealed enclosure, not ported, so it needed to be thick to not flex. The Oroins shift that much air. It was stupid. Not my thing, but still put a grin on my face, lol!

As for 5 Channel being the way to go, it certainly makes for a clean install, but you have to spend decent money (the kicker was kicking around (no pun intended) at work, so install was based around that) as the sub channel is usually weak. IMHO a dedicated mono for the sub (or 2ch bridged) and a seperate amp for the speakers usually ends up being a bit cheaper.

not to shabby man. I don't know if it's just the way that camera was picking up the noise or if something is mega lose in your dodge. But it sounded like either there is something lose rattling around inside or like the subs are getting pushed too hard and bottoming out. Like I said it may just be the way it sounds on the camera.
I'm talking when the camera was in the truck. I know from the outside it's most likely those chrome panels. Or whatever else it is on that preticular vehicle.

Well if you look at the console I have screwdrivers, screws, clips, and such sitting in the so called cup holders. What time frames are you talking about so I canlisten and see if it is that or something else.

Umm from about 24 seconds from the end and on. It gets worst around 12 seconds from the end. Don't think I'm trying to hate on your set up at all. I just didn't want you to ruin your subs by having them bottoming out the whole time. Like I said it may just be the way your camera picks up noise that that decibel. Or if it's the stuff inside your truck vibrating that's fine too. Just wanted to check and make sure that vibrating noise wasn't coming from the subs them selfs.

one more thing I noticed (after looking at your pictures on photobucket). are the settings you have on the black amp still the same? And I'm assuming that amp is pushing your subs?

Thanks Justin!

We had a little issue last night.......

Me and my dad work on lawn mowers and do small engines work and such, well we decided to bring a motor home yesterday and we put it in the back of my truck........watched it for a few mins to make sure oil wasn't going to come out.....it dripped about 3 times and that was it. Well we thought it would be ok......NOT! When we went to the carwash about 5 hours later to wash the motor and chainsaws really good, I had oil all over the place......luckily it didn't get to bad but I had oil under my box on the corner and a little on the front side.......nothing major but what a mess.....just glad I have rubber matting in the back and not carpet!

Ok I took my JL subs out, sold them to a friend, sold one of my boxes (I had 3) and now getting some new subs.

http://www.dcsoundlab.com/woofers.html

Going with 2 of the level 3 12" subs in a ported box.

Amp is going to be a AudioQue 1200d

Can't wait to get this stuff in....I ordered one the other day and as soon as my friend pays me the rest for the JL's I am going to order another sub and maybe an amp.

Well I should have one of my subs here before the end of the week (they build them when you order) and then I am going to order the other sub next weekend along with the amp.

Subs: (2) DC level 3 12"
Amp: AudioQue 1200d

Going to do a custom ported box, 4awg power/ground wires to the amp and 1/0 for all grounds for battery and alt charging system.

Well my sub came in today!!! WOW is all I can say. VERY NICE SUB

Also going to get 4 8" subs to go right behind my seat. I have some major stuff planned for the summer for this truck...

Looks like they should be a pretty killer sub. They have a nice magnet on them. Whats the cost of these?

The #4's look good cuz you can run them at 2ohm but at least they have a 3" VC.

They will pound you out thats for sure.

You can get these in the dual 2 ohm also.

They are rated for 600rms and 1200max but I have talked to many people that are running 900rms daily and without any problems. As far as cost I will send you a PM. They aren't being sold at any dealers at this time but they are getting ready to and the online prices I have seen are around $340 but trust me I got a way better price.

I just picked up a sheet of MDF and have a little project going on. I am taking my rear seats out an putting mdf down then doing a 45* angle and going to put my amp in the center then either (2) 8" subs or (2) 6.5 component speakers. Also have (4) 15" red led light strips coming to mount ok the sides. Running 1/0 from battery to back then into distribution block and running 4awg to amp and the light strips to the distribution block. Going to attempt making some fiberglass kick panels on my doors to mount my 6x9s and then replace my rear paneling with MDF and mount my 6x9s in the rear also.

Ok I ordered a Sundown 1200d amp which is fused to 150amps and puts out 1200w @1ohm with 12.8v and I will be running in upwards of 13.5-14.5v so I should be getting my full 1500w

I also ordered some Knukonceptz 1/0 wiring and that came in today along with a Stinger voltmeter to mount on the dash so I can see exactly what my voltage is and if I have voltage drop. For voltage issues I am going to be getting a 140amp alternator and a MLA module (Missing Link Audio) and that will let me run whatever voltage I want to which I will put my maximum at 14.5 just to be safe. The 2nd sub will be here next week and the amp will be here the week after.

Ok I got my wiring in! Woah that stuff is thick and looks to be of really good quality!!! Also got my 2nd sub in and the amp should be here on Monday! I then went to put some kicker comp 12"s that a friend gave to my dad into his blazer and his headunit (alpine 7889 or something) and it didn't have any rca outputs. So I decided I would get a new HU and he can have my JVC KD-S690. So I ordered a nice alpine 9886! Now have something I can hook my iPod up to and still put a flash drive into it and have all the music I want....without a CD!
