need a new flywheel?

i just got a new axial .28 and it seems like i need a new flywheel, but just to make sure heres some pics that i could barely get to come out right...theres roughly a 2mm gap, and it seems like its a bit too much...

any help would be grand..

Once you tighten the nut it will be fine. I have had several Axials and they are all using the stock flywheel.

PS. don't forget to turn the carb around. LOL And I like to seal the MRN off and thread lock the threads as those needles have a tendency to move on you.

Just curious, are you using the brass collet that came with the Axial, or the old HPI one?

I had the reverse problem with my LRP...the supplied cone didn't fit correctly, but it went in too far instead of not far enough, so the flywheel touched the block. I grabbed the collet from my F4.6 and everything fit perfectly.

All SG-style cranks are the same 7mm diameter, so whatever fit on the front of your old mill should fit exactly the same way on the new one, assuming all the same parts are being used.

I would say put the nut on it and install the clutch bell without the clutch and bolt up motor loosely to see what the spur/C/B alignment looks like.
It may still need to go forward so if it does then add shims behind flywheel.
If it lines up ok then crank that nut down, install clutch and shim bell-good to go.

I have a axial 28 and used the supplied collet and it fit perfectly after full assembly and aligned perfect to the spur gear, and I have not stripped a spur gear....only burned up the slipper clutch.

it seems that the soultion is using hpis collet and a secret is to use the ofna clutch shim kit works like a charm and plus it give you a allen head to hold the clutch on no phillips. ill post pics later

well, it turned out to be a bit too much fellas. the clutch bell was rubbing against the spur gear and even when the mesh was good, it was causing way too much friction there. although it was an easy fix, i took a circular files, twisted it on there, it angled it out a little bit instead of a straight circle like the stock hpi one, and now it fits perfect. there is actually more contact on the collet, which can really only be better right lol? well its working perfect, no slipping whatsoever.
