Hi,

I just bought a savage xl off craigslist and I love it! Already tuned, pro-line rims and tires. The the thing is I been trying to find out if my savage is a older or new model and what's the difference between the models??? I'm new to HPI coming from a Traxxas and would like some advice about this beast!

Thanks y'all!

Gonna need a few more detailed pics to get ya that info, some body off shots in a clear pic or 3 will help alot there

Oh and WELCOME to the forum, lots of good info to be found by using the search bar and if that fails you can always make a new thread asking most anything, people round here are a nice bunch always willing to help out....

Yes that helps a lot, from what I see it looks to be a basic stock XL and :ercm:, which is a good platform to start with, enjoy it and upgrade as things break, but as is it has a lot going for it, all steel spur gear and heavy slipper setup, steel transmission gears, their better differentials and gears and things like that should be in it from the get go, all in all a nice looking rig...

Thank you a lot!
Would you happen to know what version/year I have?

well as luck would have it I am kinda new to the Savage line myself, maybe one of the other guys can tell what exactly you have, there have been several iterations of most all the line, but one good thing is most are interchangeable and parts are very easy to obtain from many sources, A Main, Tower, Horizon Hobby, RC Planet and the old standby E Bay so hopup parts and replacements are plentiful still today....

I can't tell you the exact year for your Savage XL but I know it's below the 2014 models. As far as the XL models, they are pretty much the same in terms of parts compatibility.

The only difference with the updated 2014 model XL's is that HPI included the big bore shocks, sintered bp differentials, and a new body paint job. Other than that, like I said they are all the same.
