First of all id like to thank maximusraylius for sending me a button head free of charge! But my problem is that button is not the right size.. the button was actually a bit bigger.. Well me being all frustrated i started thinking while I'm here at work and decided to grind it down a bit with the bench grinder. Well i kept at it rounding it off evenly ( hitting my finger nail on the stone a few times) but i got it to fit sung! I tossed the head back on tightened everything down REALLY GOOD. Then she fired up! It wouldn't stay started but i got her to go after tweeking the HSN after warm up.

My question is.. will i cause any issues to my mill after modifying my head button? I didnt leave it all rough i smoothed it out and polished her up then hit it with some nitro force and she looked good. What do you guys think?

I think as long as it was snug and not forced on and it seals your good to go. If you had to send it home you could strech the sleve a bit but that would be damage done as soon as you did it /let heat get it. If she goes drive it!

It should be OK, as the compression seal is formed between the sleeve, head shims, and head button. As long as you didn't damage that area with the grinder, you should be good to go.

glad yall chimed in on this one .. i told him exactly what you did bank ,,, but told him to make a thread and get a few more ppls input on it cause i didnt want to be resposible for someones mill .. but sounds like a go to me .... bash on guys ...good stuff...

Just make sure that the clearance is the same from one to the next, if it's not you could run into detonation problems or even smacking the piston into the new button. Measure them both and make sure they are very close to the same clearance and you should be good to go.
