I just installed a LRP Z28r spec 3 and the rotostart backplate. My question is about the spacer that came with the back plate. My backplate came with no instructions so I installed the plate without the plastic spacer and it seems to work ok.

Will this cause any problems? And if so where do I put the spacer?

Thanks

It goes in the hex cutout. Between the spring and the back of the backplate. It just stops the shaft from walking. I use a 12mm plastic wheel hex in the HPI roto backplate on all my engines.

What do you mean by dogbone style? Are you talking about the wand?
The inside of the assy has a round gear with a hex shaped inside that grips the hex starting shaft of the motor. The spacer goes in the assy in the center of the gear.

This is a hpi backplate using a 12mm wheel hex as a spacer.

Some backplates (ofna) use a round spacer

Thanks alot guys! I will put it where it belongs.

If it were hex shaped I would have been able to figure it out:duh:

On a side note this motor is a monster even at 1/2 throttle running super rich!! And much easier to break in compared to my f4.6.

Thanks,
