I don't have the money to do a mid tank mod, so is there any feul tanks I can use to for my HTL because everytime I get half way through it just dies and I have to run it stupid rich to make it not do that! Any suggestions?
 
Yeah, I tried that trick with my LRP30... no dice. Still ran like crap. Even tried a brand new tank. Even tuned at 1/2 tank, it still was way lean by the time it got down to 1/4 tank and far too rich to run when full. I gave up fiddling with the stock tank.

Depending on your configuration, you may be stuck with it though. My X has the big bore shocks, so I have a bit more room on the rear with only 4 shocks. I'm running an OFNA 125cc tank on it currently and it seems to run well.

This is what I ran before, but the seals went bad and I couldn't find another on ebay:

Yea I did the linkage mod (was having problems with og) and I still have a htl no matter how I set it up, i made it so it doesnt die at half but it runs stupid rich, so I ordered a 125cc tank cause
 
I wish dropping the tank down worked for me. I hate that I only have 125cc of fuel, especially with the LRP30... that things not overly economical on fuel. 7-8 minutes between fill ups gets old, but hey, it runs well.

I get 10+ minutes with my LRP28 revo and 150cc tank. 15+ with my OS21TM revo and a 150cc tank.

I got much better tuning consistency when I modified stock tank by installing a fuel nipple at the back of the tank as low as I could, capping off the original fuel outlet. I also tune at half tank. The K4.6 runs great tank after tank. The LRP 30 runs better after I did this too.

Can you post pictures and maybe explain how you did it I got 2 hpi stock tanks that I don't mind working on (not sure how you'd get a fuel nipped at the bottom unless you melted it on?) Thanks in advance

It noticeably improved the HTL issue I have. With this mod I can tune the K4.6 at half tank and it runs reliably enough for bashing at any fuel level. Less of an improvement for my LRP 30 which runs hotter and has a much narrower tuning window.
 
I just ran another 750cc's of fuel through my LRP30. Day was ended due to my rear center cvd pin breaking... again. 3rd time since I installed this engine. The thing runs fantastic now. I upped the bell to 18, so now have 18/47 and it still wheelies for days. 2nd gear shift wheelies if I'm in the grass. That engine is ridiculous. Idles nice and smooth, tons of power, running around 210F through the entire tank, ambient temp was at 70F. Still a bit on the rich side as I'm probably just now getting around a gallon through the engine. 7 minute 20 seconds on 125cc tank. I timed a couple. Was constant driving at a decent speed in grass just to see how long the tank lasted.

I found a new dogbone and cup to replace the cvd, then aro'd the engine and put it on the shelf. Probably done with it for the year. Need to fire up my revos to get them ran through and ARO'd as well for storage.

LOL I got a 16/47 but I can't ever get it to run long enough to tune it properly this is what I get when I don't run my savage for 2 years

That is fantastic! I'm glad all LRP 30's aren't overheating lemons like mine is lol!

Well, until I replaced the tank... the LRP30 sucked. I saw 300F temps out of it during break-in while set stupid rich! Man, that was an abysmal couple of days. Lots of blisters, swearing and thrown tools... Then I switched the tank back out for the smaller one I'm running now and couldn't be happier.

I'm 90% sure that the LRP28 I took out of it was running hot/bad due to the old OFNA tank I had in it. It was leaking fuel all over out of the cap due to the spring being tired and the o-ring not sealing. So, that's when I tried the HPI tank, then bought another HPI tank because it wasn't any better... I tried the tricks of long fuel line coiled up, tune at half tank, move the tank down half an inch... Then I resealed the entire engine again. Still bad. Then I decided the engine was junk and ordered the LRP30 out of spite. Then it did the same thing! Then I found a place to buy the byrons fuel I was used to running in hopes that I was just running bad fuel. No dice.

I was 2 inches from ripping the known good LRP28 out of my revo just to have a savage that ran! Then I tried the smaller tank that had shown up in the mail that I ordered a week prior and now the 30 is running perfect. I have half a mind to take it out and drop the "bad" 28 back in to see if it's also ok. But it ran so well last weekend... I'll just keep that other LRP28 on the shelf in case the one in my revo dies or something really bad happens to the 30.
