hi guys. I just bought a savage x 4.6 ss and I love it. I already broke a dogbone with the k4.6 ( I'm no stranger to broken parts I used to be a t-maxx guy). I am upgrading to FLM dogbones to remedy the problem, but I want more power and it has to go somewhere. So I am looking at the Lrp .28 ( the x-dyno relults are impressive),but am wandering if it will kill my drivetrain. any one got some first hand info? any other engines are up for suggestion as I am trying to make as much power as I can without breaking stuff all the time. I mean a part here or there is bound to happen but not like all the time. thanks

welcome to hpisf. here is something to remember when you upgrade something it will expose another weak point somewhere so pick your upgrades wisely and the lrp is a good mill, stock you shouldnt have a prob but if its modded then it might break other things lol.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I have been in r/c for about 8 years and I enjoy 1:1 rock crawling so I fully understand having to choose my upgrades wisely. I was just concerned if I get the lrp if my diffs and tranny would be live granades? I mean parts break and even a ring and pinion every gallon or so would be understandable considering how overpowered the truck would be. I just wamt the truck to be as reliable as possible

welcome to the forum jackson. I have the LRP z.28r spec3. Its an awesome mill! As long as your diffs are shimmed you should be fine. I have broke the screw that goes into the brake hub though. Not sure if that had anything to do with having the LRP but just to give ya a heads up.

Thanks for all the help guys. That makes me feel better because I thought about buying an STS .30 for a bit there but I heard good and bad and Its got good dyno numbers but less than the LRP. however I am sticking to the original plan with the .28 spec 3

Hi and welcome,

I just put a lrp .28 in my Savage X (4.1). Love it, I'm still tweaking the mill out but things are holding up well. I did loose a tooth on my rear pinion, but I can't blame that on the new mill.

I will look to upgrade parts when I bust 'em.

Cheers,
Leslie (RC Chick)

I don't think the z30 will hurt the train too... I don't think any .30 can... The only mills I have killed parts with is a modded picco and a modded Novarossi 528. my lrp has always been good to me. even slightly modded it has not shredded a thing.
