I have an original savage25, but due to college and other things I never had time to run my savage any more. Now I'm looking forward to possibly getting back into this awesome hobby but I have some questions.

Since I havn't started my savage up in what has to be at least a year, so I'm expecting some difficulty when it comes to starting it up again. But the main question I have is the fuel. I still have some Top Fuel left in the can. It's been in the garage and I'm curious would that fuel still be good to use? It's gotta be at least a year old but it's been in a cool dry area the whole time.

Another question I have, since I havn't been able to keep up to date on things, are there any new kinds of fuel that people tend to use over another brand or is it still up in the air on what people use?

welcome to hpisf. i would say toss the fuel. as for which brand i prefer i go with byron's race blend 20%.

byrons has showed to be a winner. Give her a new plug too bet it fires quick and begs to be beat... Welcome back ! if you use humps be a lil leery of its charge. If no fail safe run inside a fence till you know it will last. Id toss any pack that has sat a year and not seen a cycle or two.

Yeah I've heard of those brands, I'll have to go check and see if my LHS is still in business one of these days. Just for kicks i checked out the glowplug and the fuel, the glowplug still lights up and the fuel wasn't gunky or anything and it looks alright so I decided using just a little to see if I could get my savage to start up and surprisingly I got it to start up on the 8th tug.

I noticed that i'll have to re-tune it though, but before I start messing around with the settings I want to get some new fuel first.
