Looking to get a new motor

I know this has probably been hit a thousand time but I'm wanting to get a better motor for my savage x. I'm either wanting to get the picco .28 or lrp.32 any help would be great -thanks Stephen

Ok we will make this one 1001 and I would have to say the LRP would be your best bang for your bucks, not sure about a .32 unless you have done the proper upgrades but the LRP .28 is a monster so check into one of those......

I have the one size smaller versions of these engines in my trucks. Picco .26 p3 & lrp .30x.
The picco has silly bottom end. The lrp sounds cooler. I had a hard time to figure out the slipper with both of these engines. They smoked the ceramic discs within two pulls.
you can't go wrong with either.

So I'm thinking about getting lrp .28 what's a good tuned pipe? Or will the stock pipe work fine with it

I run the stock HPI aluminum pipes on both engines. I was going to get the ERCM pipes but decided not to. They are already silly quick. As matter of fact, I have to tune them a bit fat on the LSN so I can drive them.

That's definitely a viable option. Another good one is the 053.
If the .28 is anything like the .30X, it has a very distinct sound. I had the HPI ribbed pipe on it for awhile. I had to wear ear plugs to start it up.

well if you go with the 086 as he recommends you will have to get a manifold also, unless you already have one laying around....
I have an Axial.32 in my savage it came with a spring type coupler for the pipe and it works great, not sure on the brand because there are no markings on either the pipe or manifold...

your recommendation of the spring type manifold would be the reason, the stock HPI Savage comes with a silicone coupler to mate the manifold and pipe together.... I do believe the 086 comes either way but not positive on this....

The 086 comes with a header using the spring coupling.
