hi guys i was looking for an engine for my savage x i did not know if i should buy a new piston and con rod and sleeve or a new engine money is kind of low right now i was reading a few posts and wanted to know what was sts,lrp and mach engines stands for and where to get pricing. the reason i'm asking is that i damage my engine and could not get the piston and sleeve out i mean i tried everything from heating the engine with a hairdryer and nothing worked so if there anyone that can help please help me . oh and do i need to change the engine mounts for any of the engines and do the clutch bell and electric start works with any oft those engines.

most engines will mount right up into your savage I run a lot of DYNAMITE motors there LOWER side brand the Mach sereis are affordable but there is a tunning thing with them there a little finiky. but A upper middle motor. Sure fire I've, heard good things about them with the price and quality ask around you find somthing.. I have know dout.

Piston/sleeve/conrod sets usually are rather expensive, making it hard to justify going that route when good engines are available for relatively little money.

When money comes into the picture, the Axial .28 and STS .28 are very good choices at just over $100.

this is something I've noticed ... i just don't get it ...

Entire replacement Engine (HPI NS .21BB) £94.99
new carb - £50
Cylinder / Piston / Connecting Rod £77 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

eh???? I think they want us to just buy new engines you know ...

It's frustrating, but pretty much the same with any assembled piece compared to individual parts. You could build an entire Savage from parts, but it'd double the cost. Same with a blender or a flashlight or a '69 Camaro.

The irony, in this case, is few people probably buy stock replacement engines, they'll buy aftermarket stuff, so HPI gets no money from it.

I dunno they must be banging out SO MANY engines they don't care ... I dread to think what an engine actually costs HPI to make ... next to **** all I expect. It wouldn't surprise me if they were getting crank cases for pennies a piece (cents a piece) ...

After being involved in other design projects for musical instruments I lost all faith in the relationship between designers&manufacturers / distributors / dealers ... dealers seem to do the least in the chain and get the biggest slice of the pie.

That set up has actually killed a few projects i've been involved with before the designs ever left the prototyping stage ... (getting investors is HARD WORK!)
