Well, I didn't actually kill them but I instigated their owners into executing their demise 🙂

We were out back of my firehouse, and just pounding around - at the end of the parking lot there is a big hill down to a local park, and at the top of the hill, there is a curl in the asphalt just before the down-hill - a perfect ramp 🙂

I started off goofing around with my Savage, just ramping it off the ramp and flying a good 30-35 feed forward and about 15-20 feet down, did this about 12 times or so, and setting the longest distance with a stick in the ground (in the video, between the two trees). Well Matt (who has one T-Maxx) decided to make a try for it - and experiences issues paying his gravity bill:

- Smashed rear bulkheads, trashed motor mount - other than that, not too bad.

Then Bobby decided to try to beat my distance (with the T-Maxx I sold him to purchase my Savage LOL) and he did not have such luck:

Damage:
  • Broken lower A arm.
  • Broken lower A arm pin,
  • Broken rear shocks (all 4),
  • Broken driver side axle,
  • broken driver side rear wheel mount,
  • broken rear bumper mounts,
  • Broken steering servo horn,
  • bent front skid plate (aluminum),
  • Bent rear skid plate (aluminum),
  • bent belly pan (aluminum),
  • Bent servo skid (aluminum)

LOVE me my Savage LOL!

Just thought I would share the carnage. Me? All I broke was one carrier ear - fixed in 5 mins 🙂

lol too cool you can even hear it snap over the noise of that overgrown bumble bee.....but thats not carnage..just cheap!!! it's just not the same if it's not a savvy!!IMO anyhoo!!

Ya know, I started the challenge, and I think that they thought the Maxx's would hold up to it - I set the bar, and Bob is not one to let someone else win 🙂 I was not able to go as far as I could (slipper clutch was spinning like a mofo) but I have the parts on order, and when I get it back up and running (and they get theirs running LOL) we will start the competition again 🙂

For those coming on the 7th - this might be a fun place to show the Maxx guys who are coming what a real truck can do LOL.

I was absolutely amazed at how well the Savage flies - night and flat and smooth - once I got the shocks set up right, she landed without even a bounce. The front bumper did leave nice divots in the grass - just made it easier to figure out where I landed 🙂

My only carnage was a rear carrier - which I had 2 spares in my box - and get this - on the front bumper where the little legs go from the front bar to the bulkheads, I broke the SCREW - not the plastic, but the metal screw inside!

I blame this all of course on Pope - if he didn't get me started on Bashing, then I wouldn't be hooked so badly. Good thing I got a box of a gazillion suspension parts the other day, and a few diffs I can rebuild and keep as spares as well!

stinks that their trucks got busted up.

funny story though. maybe they will see the light & buy savages.

It is sad to see guys have this kind of thing happen to them when they are first starting to get into the hobby. Ends up scarring them off sometimes.

These are good guys - I helped Matt out by taking his Maxx that was sitting for more than a year and getting it up and running for him, and after yesterday he has me looking for a Savage for him now LOL  So I am on the lookout for one for him - rough shape OK, I have most of what would be needed to overhaul it if necessary...

As for Bobby, well he has been in RC for years, but mostly electric - and he is a sucker for punishment 🙂 He knew what he was getting into but it was more like "that's OK as long as I beat Bob's distance" !

The REALLY funny part is all this started because I got my Maxx off the shelf and started bashing out behind the firehouse. Then we got Matt's running, I sold my Maxx to Bobby, now three other guys are looking for them too - so its gonna be really cool to have everyone together right in town...

Bob

Nothing like a good bash crew to keep you in the hobby.

One big plus about the nitro's is they draw a crowd and everyonce in a while one of those people watching will go out and get one of their own.

I am always willing to let a guy watching take the controller for a few min. Once you drive one you can't help but want one.

It is all that alum on there making it so heavy.

 or than again maybe it is just the nature of a t-maxx

lol, I stopped by the LHS for a bottle of shock oil, and there was a father and son in there up from Florida looking at an S-Maxx, the Hobbytown exclusive RWD-only 2.5 Maxx. I'd never screw up a sale for anybody, but man, I was having to hold myself back from telling them to buy a Savage...they endedup buying a matching set of silver/blue and blue/silver along with a starter kit, and were planning onbreaking them in tonight and bringing them back to the shop to have some Traxxas upgrade parts like a front diff and a pipe installed on them and then having them shipped to Fla...what a waste...
