hi i am extrealy new to the rc world and i just baught an hpi savage x ss kit it says i need all the electronics what do i need besides the remote and receiver? does the kit come with the servos if not does the remote and reveiver??
thanks jeff

you will need servos. some radios come with servos like the spectrum dx 3.0 but they are crapy. i run one of the spectrum servos for my throttle and brake and for steering i use the hitec 645 mg. but i am getting bigger tires so i am upgrading my steering servo. but the hitec 645 mg should do just fine.

heres a link to the hitec

i have not had any problems with my spectrum servos at all and i beat the crap out of my trucks ,i had the stock hpi ones for over a year with no problems i guess its been luck

how much would a good remote and servos cost me nothing insane just somethin that will last and work well

Personally I love my Futaba 2.4 FASST 3PM's. On the monster trucks and truggys and so on that have the larger tires I run the Hitec 5645MG for steering and the Hitec 5625MG for Throttle. These servos are around $50 each and the 2.4 3PM is around $165 with out servos. This is a great set up ya there is much better out there but it is decent for racing and overkill for bashing but is still fairly cheap and is very reliable.

I'm look to spend no more than 200 my buddy said i should get the spektrum dx2.0

It's not too bad but one servo will be plastic geared and like I said, I broke the other on my throttle and it was metal gear. If I could refund it, I'd get a Futaba. They have never let me down.

That's what I do jeffy but I'm pretty hard on stuff. To be honest the Spektrum stuff hasn't impressed me all that much and had originally got it to race. If you don't run with a lot of other people, go cheap on the radio, one with crystals, and spend the rest on servos. They are what's really important.

I agree with Parker but I really like my Digital radio as well and will never go back. Every time I get a new truck, car or whatever be the case it always goes on my digital radios. They are so much nicer for adjustments and they hold the trims and all. The old radios seem like everything needs to be readjusted every time before running.

I have also head of many people not impressed with the spectrum stuff but there are lots that swear buy it but they must not have used Futaba fasst radios because they are very nice and are 100% glitch Free. I have never heard of a major problem with them. In the slim chance that something did happen Futaba would be sure to take care of it.

I'm going to have to say my combo is a great deal but is a bit to spend when your not looking to spend a lot. but it will make you happy and will last virtually forever. Its not way over kill but its not cutting your self short. I guarantee if you go that rough you will enjoy.

On option to save $30-50 or so is to just get Hitec 645MG servos or get one of them and a cheaper servo for throttle but they will be analog.

The digital servos are nice because they have instant full power where analog servos need to move a bit before reaching full power. Also, digital servos have much better holding power and will last longer in the end, they also operate smoother and have much finer adjustments meaning you can stop any were where analog servos kind of get jerky or stop at certain points.
