a new engine? I bought this Savage 21 with the factory .25 in it. I know he used it a lot but also took pretty good care of it. I noticed HPI has an exchange program. Send in your motor and for 99 bucks get a new one. It says BB for a BB. I wonder if i can get a bigger one? How do i know if it's time to get a new one. I do know there is a broken bolt that attaches the starter block to the engine block (part 1431 i think) broken flush with the engine block. Would be a bugger to get it out for sure. Suggestions?

Bah don't wanna waste my money on something i will never use to it's full potential. It's a hobby, not a career to me LOL

IMHO the exchange program isnt worth it, for 60$ you can get a new sleeve, piston and rod for the .25 and rebuild it, this would be your best bet since you say you wont use the full potential of the Picco, leave those for the extreme rc guys who have nothing better to do, like me, or if you want a little more increase in power go with a axial .28 or get the F4.6, great easy to tune motors for the average enthusiast. but, its all up to you, i personally would go with an LRP or Picco, just cause.. 🙂

If you have no plans for modding go LRP. yes I have crazy motors but I want my truck to do crazzy stuff. A rtr savage is a brick on wheels to me and honestly Id give up the hobby if it were my only option lol. but a LRP was my stepping stone to nuts. the F and K mills can be bought for 99 bucks flat out. You don't need to trade anything in for them. if your going to do a sleeve and piston don't forget bearings and a rod too... Often over looked but on low quality motors like the F/K = force 28/ Axail 28 , they don't last and need to be replaced.

I have to agree with Bank completely. The best bang for the buck as far as factory mill with no modding is the LRP, the Picco 28 is killer as well especially when modded.

this is the reason I have my mills modded...
This savage is locked in 3rd gear by a custom tranny I built its only a 1 speed..

Most trucks can launch like this with a 2 speed using first gear ..
