ok, I have a savage x 4.6 and I love it. Motor seems to be good for what I use it for. I also have a older savage 25 that needs a new motor. I don't want to spend alot of cash. What does everyone think of tossing in another 4.6 into this truck? The f4.6 is only $112 on ebay unless someone has a better idea for same price or a small amount more. Also, the 4.6 will bolt in wont it? THANKS TO EVERYONE...

but for the money, ($112) is anyone unhappy with the 4.6 power and reliability? Ive had great luck with mine. I only have 2 gal thru it but I don't really take that good of care of it. It runs great and holds a good tune.

Thanks for the info. It looks like a good motor. Will my orig stuff work with this engine? like clutch and other things.

Yeah definitely. Axial's are very similar to HPI engines as far as look and assembly. My dad and I both run Axial .28s. Mine has 7 gallons on it and my dad's has 3/4 of a gallon. My old Axial can still keep up with his spanking new one. It will last you a long time if you break it in right. I don't mean to be self promoting but here's the link to my Axial .28 review.

I recently sold my f4.6 to someone who put it into savvy 25, everything swaps over, they love it so far but it wheelies far too much with the 25's 15/52 gearing.

The engine was about 4gallons old when i sold it and is still as strong as when it was new, easy to tune and maintain and pushed my X very fast.

Just bear in mind whatever engine you get if you are still running stock 25 SG/CB sizes you may wanna gear it up a bit unless your a wheelie king lol

good advice londoner as my savage x rtr was 15/49 gearing and now that i have a .28 engine in it it seems to have a bit to much bottom end and the front wheels never stay down!! lol I'm going to gear up a bit myself!!

I personally like my 18/49 gearing with the Axial. 28. I have a 1/2 inch extended chassis and it almost never wheelies unless I lean it out the LSN quite a bit. Londoner gave you some good advice! Gear it up.

wheelie lover I am. I run 15/52 in my savage x right now and I love the way it rides. I hardly ever do much high speed runs. I prefer to have the low end grunt. I am more into short quick runs vs any distance. Mostly plyin in a small are and some hill climbin. I made a pretty cool wheelie bar too so as long as I'm careful I keep it under control. Oh ya, I do run xl tires (terra pins) so the larger circumference helps the ratio a little bit.
