Ok guys I have been doing a good bit or racing lately both off-road and oval. I enjoy racing both and I am going to continue racing both. So this is what I have:

HPI Savage 25
STS .28
3 Speed
X Roll Cage
Motor Saver Air Filter
Hobbico CS-70 Steering servo
40 series Wabash rims 23mm
40 series panther pythons
HD Dogshafts on front
Stock dogshafts on back

What is some things I should upgrade? Thanks

Ok not that i have anything against racing but, it is to heavy tobe a racer no matter how light of parts you put on it it's still gonna big a big heavy basher. this is just my 2 cents. I say once a basher always a basher.

I know its meant to be a basher but everyone else at the track is racing savag'es also.......1 revo and its cough sucks cough.......lol. He was doing 3045 sec laps when we were making laps in the low 20s

I will get some pics after I get it cleaned........I also see a better steering servo in the future and my CS-70 going to the throttle and brake.......Pics will get here soon.....

Anyone know where I can get a wing and a mount for it? Thanks, also what shocks would be good for racing? CEN?

OK I made a hobbytown run today and I picked up a few items.

What I picked up:

Hellfire Wing mount/wing
Fuel Filter
Traxxas humpback

I will get pics up once I get the wing mounted and everything else back together. The wing isn't a direct bolt on, I will have to do some modding to it but I am sure it will work and I HOPE it DOES WORK , costed me $25 for the wing mount/wing.

OK this hellfire wing/mounts isnt going too good right now. I am thinking I might just mount the wing on the body post. I am not going to give up this early because their should be some way to mount this wing........maybe a hellfire shock mount?

OK I am going to start on making my own shock towers sometime this week....I picked up a plexi glass windshield that goes on gold carts and it didn;t cost me anything....its about 2 ft by 4 ft and I can prob get about 1 or 2 more sheets if I need them.....

Old picture but its the same way now........I will get some updated pics with the new tires and rims, wing mounted and I have removed 4 shocks.......should be a complete change in the stance and handling.......I will get some pics as soon as I get the wing mounted.

OK now pics yet, wing still not mounted, I got the truck back together with the humpback and the fuel filter and the 4 shocks off. I am hopeing to get the wing mounted tomorrow.

Thanks Hoppedup, its not much of a change but its somewhat of a change with the new tires and rims.

Personally, I would change all of your drive cups to the heavy duty HPI cups at every end of every dogbone. Maybe it's just my driving style that eats up the standard ones, but they were getting pretty bad. I put the HD cups and HD dogbones in mine and I've been happy with them. They aren't getting chewed up nearly as bad.

Nice project so far bud...can't wait to see what else you decide to do!

AMAZINGLY I am STILL RUNNING THE STOCK AND ORIGINAL 2 Bevel Gear Diffs.......even with the sts .28 and racing I still am on the stock and I took the skid plate off and looked at the outer gear and it seemed fine.......Thanks for the comments guys

I see a Robinson Racing Spur/CB combo on the way.....my mesh was perfect........and it stripped, the spur gear looked warped, and warped bad and I was just driving in the yard and I cant get any speed.......darn plastic.......

now I'm pissed..........went to run today and the small gear inside the backplate stripped AND my roto start is broke......not cool..........................

well I sent HPI an e-mail and they are sending me a new one, hopefully I get it soon.

We need pictures man! Whats a build thread without pictures......no worries about the pics though only giving you a hard time.

HPI25 when loading pics will you make them half the size they are now?

thx

No problem HOP, sorry about the oversized picture, that one has been on my photobucket account for quite some time now and I couldn;t remember what size it was, sorry. And I am going to have some pics once the roto start gets here.

UPDATE TIME!!!!!

HPI sent me TWO ROTO START 2's FOR FREE!!!!!!!

So now I have 2 roto start's and a pullstart which is on the truck as of now. Also I picked up a Golder Horizon steel spur from the LHS today.........he had them on sale for $15 normally $32 so I picked it up. Pictures will be posted tonight sometime if I get a chance

HPI Savage25, I can tell you how I mounted the wing on my Savage race truck.

First you will need some parts from Amain Hobbies because they are the only place I can find that stocks Kyosho parts. Here are the pages for the needed parts.

Wing stays, http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_25_134/products_id/3907

If you click on the Kyosho MP7.5 in the upper header it will take you to the main Inferno parts page. The first wing, blue, is at the bottom of page 1 and all the rest are on page 2.

Ok, after you get the parts you need to cut the forward most part of the wing stays off. This is what the look like:

This is where you need to cut off:

Make a cut that is back from flush with the bottom through bolt holes. Here is a side pic close up to show you how to cut each side of the wing stay.

Use two of the short bolts used to hold the Savage X diff cover in place, Z634. Screw the Z634's into the holes that you normally put body clips into to set the body post height.

Your done, Savage wing made easy. This is what it looks like when your done.

As for shocks. I used Integy MSR7 Hellfire shocks for my Savage. The are super beefy and give the truck a really mean stance.

Your Savage looks good, get the wing on it and it will look that much meaner..

looks good i agree with def get the wing and it will look meaner!!
i like those wheels i may have to get some my self. hows the four shock set up working for you?
4x4

4x4

As for the 4 shock setup it works pretty good and since I race oval most of the time it makes it handle a lot better, especially compared to the other savages that still run stock tires, rims, and 8 shocks. I have the hellfire wing mount and I think I can get it to work somehow if not I will get those parts you posted def.

Thanks guys
