Really hasn't affected me YET !!!!!! in my line of work .. but give it a month and we are going to be slow !!!!!!!!!!

Just wondering how everyone is doing out there.... Who or what is to blame for this CRAP !??????????

:duh::shocked:

Not yet. I have my own company and work for myself. Even though I hate computers, they give me a descent living.

Greed and liberal polices caused this... hee-hee.

well the last few winters have been pretty good with lots of snow so the snow removal keeps me busy but this year hasn't been great for snowfall so not as much extra money..... but other then that the economy hasn't affected me much i would have to say so far!!

It have affected me a lot actually. The reason I say this is because I moved to Amherst VA in July of 08, with my girl friend and we lived on my family's farm. Everything was good had a good job in Heating and Air. But long story short my girl friend left and moved back home. And being out there is rough really isolated so didn't know anyone I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about. But anyway I ended up moving back in November of 08'. And since then I have yet to find a job. It has been absolutely horrible there are no jobs available around here. And if there is you have to be super quick because other wise they are grabbed up. I have been to the employment service of Maryland just plain of sucks.

Edit one thing that is good is more Savage time like Derty said. :)

Right now, our shop is holding strong.... we are honestly one of the very few shops, if not the only one in town, that is running a full time schedule (and we run 45 hours a week). Everyone else has cut hours back, some pretty drastically. We are keeping a large enough workload that we actually brought in two more people recently. Personally, I have been swamped these last few weeks... every time I clear my desk of projects, someone always fills it again. LoL

So far, I can't complain much... I've still got a job, my paycheck hasn't taken a dip, and we are keeping busy. Things will probably start slowing down for us over the next two months, but that is pretty normal for us at this time of year. We'll see what happens, but I have faith that we'll make it through.... my boss has run his shop for around 18 years now, and not once has he ever had to lay off an employee.... he's got something going right for him, and I trust we'll come through just fine.

Staying busy as of now. But if we don't see a major heat wave this spring/summer I'm thinking I'm gonna be broke. Even if theres a heat wave I'm sure people wont be getting any A/C here in WA with the way things are going. Oh well more savage time

Hasn't hit me since I work for Uncle Sam, but my wife is working more hours with less help for little money. It hardly makes it worth it for her to keep working.

Hasn't affected me yet, i'm in the industrial field so It will only get better as the billions of dollars are spent on infrastructure projects in the years to come. on the flip side of my industry there are hundreds of commercial painters out of business due to the cutbacks and lack of spending. I blame the republicans

Me and svtman work for BFGoodrich and it has hit our company real hard last year. Our plant is doing ok because me make the alot of mud terrains and all terrains. Our production in other plants has really took a hit especially on the OE side of it. The Ft. Wayne plant is slower right now at 21,000 tires a day.

Well the economy hasn't affected my self a whole lot other than mentally. As some know I work at our family business where we are a $13 million $ comp. and employ about 80 people. We have seen a slow down as of the end of November where we are usually slow down in the winter but haven't for the last few and not ever this bad. But on a good not things are picking up. We did lay a few off in mid Dec. but have brought them all back. However, we were pretty slim before that as we put a freeze on hiring back early Oct. So things are looking much better and we are on the verge looking to hire. So this is good. The way it sounds though is may other companys are still in the hurt and My feeling is we have not hit the bottom yet. We do alot of government jobs and city/state play grounds which is a good thing. This just takes a little toll mentally to me knowing all 80 of our employee's rely on us to make a living.

I sure hope things turn around for all before to long. Sounds like for the most part the people on this forum are doing pretty well.

yeah, hit me hard. i am on a 15% i guess you could call it commission. i should be on 75%, since i am an owner operator...most months i am glad to make my pickup payment and nothing else. i spend 8-24 hours a day in a truck, and make pennies of what i should be making...i can count on my one hand the amount of hours ive had to myself at home this week.

between work and personal problems. (they have nothing to do with the economy) i seem to be in a constant state of worry and depression. not every 20 year old has 1.5 million worth of equipment that has to keep moving....or else the re-po man comes to visit.

its about killed me i built frac and vac tanks for the oil fields and it has put a hurtin on my hobby. but this will hopefully pass thank god for wat unemployment that i do get... personally i think its the corp exc.to blame personal jets 1.3 million dollar spa trips for the weekend honestley they can let go some of that money to go towards companys that need it to survive.

the economy is like the food chain the fat cats sit on top and fudge up everyone elses lives just cuz they want that $#@! spa weekend its bull!!!

Wel i gues i would say that it is starting to take a toll on me. I work for a Honda supplier and i just found out on Monday that my hours are getting cut down to 32 hrs for the month of March..This is about 30 hrs a week less than i was working in November... Man i sure hope that it gets better soon, but i have a feeling that we haven't seen the worst of it yet.. Sure does put a strain on my Hobby..

i am an auto tech that just started a new job we are slow right now but we also just had a transit strikein our city. so work has been slow. but i have noticed that people are putting money into there older cars then buying new ones

I'm VERY lucky and sooo glad I'm out of the 100% commission at the Chevy Dealership (technician) and on the GOV gravy train.
Wife is also secure as a teacher.
I pray for all members that need help-keep trying and don't give up!
I am really afraid for our Country and our way of life and fear it will be over as we know it sooner than later-I hope I am wrong!

Well, let's just say a couple weeks ago the company I worked for went out of business and there are no jobs to be found here.

Guess I'm not the only one looking for work. My son and I just moved to florida to get away from my crazy arse ex. I found a good paying job and things looked good for us. I have been a painter and painted custom homes for 12yrs. Here I was doing commercial painting. It is a little different but pays good. I was making $13.50 an hour and working 60-70 hrs a week all cash. Then the economy problems hit here and since I was the new guy I got the ax first. This has been a month ago and I cant find work anywhere. Thank god when I came here I'm staying with family till my house in sc sells. Which may take for ever in this economy. Anyway I also blame the sorry republicans like that moron H. W.

It hasen't efected my family yet. But I found this quote...

BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE, IF IT IS OUR TAX MONEY BEING USED TO BAIL OUT ALL THE COMPANIES, GIVE IT BACK TO US AND WE THE PEOPLE WILL FIX THE MESS FOR THE PEOPLE.

Too late. We are now a socialist state with a communist President.

The UK is the worst affected part of Europe, (mainly because we don't make anything to export anymore) I tend not to think about it because it wont affect my job within the ministry of defence, but a lot of close friends are finding times hard...I think the media made the whole thing worse by scaring people into not spending money...
