Help with Picco .28

My engine is cutting out when I rev full throttle. I can't get the tires to to full expand when I left the car up a use full throttle . Just can't figure out why the engine cuts out. What is the factory setting of the mill.

How long have you had the engine, how much fuel have you put through it? If it is still at factory needle settings, chances are it is too rich, are you seeing a lot of smoke? The way you describe it sounds lean,but if you have not messed with the needles it is probably rich. I think the factory settings are both needles flush.

here are the factory needle settings (from the owners manual):

HSN-Set at 3 to 3 1/2 turns from closed (which is flush with collar)

LSN-Turn needle until it stops, do not overtighten then turn out counterclockwise 10.5 to 11.5 turn.

Richen first to be safe, if that makes it worse lean it out in small increments.

Yes. counter clock to richen mixture, clock to lean mixture

take a look at my HSN its a bit lean from stock setting. see how it sits above the brass barrel?

frddy, thats lean from stock?? I would have thought that was rich. Guess I need to learn about da picco's.

That does look rich. I took the HSN to flush and turned the needle counter clock wise to 3 1/2. Living in Utah the best setting for this mill is 4 1/2 from flush.

No dude. it might have been confusing the way i typed it ( & especially if your used to running a F-mill) the factory settings arent flush. Per the instructions that came with the mill, factory setting is 3 1/2 turns counter clockwise from closed or flush which brings the screw up above the brass barrel.

Mind you this mill had its break-in during January/February in Chicago (extreme cold) so, as you know, the mixture had to be quite rich to account for air density & also run a bit on the rich side for run in 🙂

in that pic your seeing about 2-2 1/2 turns rich from flush (so about 1 full turn lean from factory setting)
