I need a good racing engine. I have a 300 dollar limit not including shipping and handling, I will be putting it in my soon coming racer for summer of 2010 (being made out of my dead 25 LE). I was thinking of an Axial 28rr-2 with a turbo head and get it Modded but it's too new to know anything about it so I’m looking for as much help as I can get.
 
Picco 28 race modded by ercm. Cost you about 350 after shipping. Or the novarossi 28 plus 7 RT for 298 plus shipping.
 
on the nova web site the 7+1port is like 300-400 dollars for one with the roto-start and the 3p is the one that's 250ish, i got a nova with the 25 when i got it used... great engine however those pullstarts are crappy.
 
The picco sells for 200 it is 100 for the mod and around 50 for shipping. The nova sells for 295 for the plus 7 RT.

buy the Picco from Pure~ they are on sale at SMF 334.99 shipped

Thats your 1st choice for racing engine and they have two in stock
 
ya theres been alot of problems with the axial rr's from what i,ve read, the picco modded by robin "purenitro" is the best choice........

$334 shipped that not too bad at all for the ERCM Picco. I thought they were like $400 before shipping... Maybe after April when I get back to work LOL.

Thats a great mill, but you may want to pm Purenitro and ask him which mill and mod is the best fit for your racing.

he might not recommend the drag mod for the track. but pm him, he'll steer you right.
 
Well Dam* everyone likes picco, any objections from anyone please? Sounds like I’ll get one of those so far. Anyone know where I can get a black, gray or hard anodized cooling head for one? it's kinda of a theme thing(Thats why I thougt about the 28rr, and wow everyone here is really nice).
 
For racing you don't want the drag mod. It drinks fuel a bit to much but the race mods give you crazy power with good fuel economy. And yes for unmodded the picco or lrp are both great choices and the novarossi I mentiond before would be great that is a pure blood race motor but with that comes a higher price tag only mentioned it cause you said you had 300 to drop on the mill. One thing to note though is that all that power means you will need a upgraded drive train. You might be best off with say the stock picco and a rsc. Along with some suspension work to get it to handle better on the track.

I'm thinking you will be waiting a long time to hear objections about the picco and robins work!!!! lol
 
Trust me the drive train will be fine, I got that Covered, ok for the Picco got 3 different .28 engines, may i ask for a part # on the picco for which one's best. Also would it pay off to mod a the novarossi? or will it be to powerful? And Lastly any advantage to a turbo plug head?
