Help choosing tires

Hello. As I managed to break one rim (I have the HPI Goliaths) I also want to order some other new tires. As I live far away from USA, I woud like to order from tower. I would want Maximizer 1/2" Offset 17mm Beadlocks Black (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=001579351&I=LXNWR1&P=K) but I see that on tower they do not have Losi zombie max. Can someone please tell me what kind of tires I can order from tower that would fit the maximizers and would provide about the same control and traction than the Losi (and, of course, better control and traction than the stock savage x4.6 tires).

PS. I don't want to make a new post, so I will post here. Today I was stupid. Yeah, stupid. Let me tell you why. :duh: As the brake rod keeps on loosening, today I got the "idea" of glueing it with some CA. So, I put some CA on the hole where the rod enters, put the rod and then screwed in the top screw. But after a while it all froze, and I guess some glue glued the silver piece (from the pic below) to the TVP. I managed to unglue it, an it works ok, but here is my question: can I somehow detach/unscrew the silver part (from the pic below) to clean it thoroughly?

i run the zombies on maximizer beadlocks, but if your running your truck off road, my vote goes to the pro-line mulchers.

i say this cuz the others in my bash crew run these tires with modded mills & they really grip the ground, dirt, grass, sand, etc., like crazy

just don't run em on the street, youll destroy em.
 
you need to take the tranny out of the truck to get at the lil silver thing in the pic....lol.....i also have a set of badlands which are an awsome tire good for all types of terrain..imo!
 
i love the stock tmaxx tires what are they called for offroad on road i use road rage by proline
 
So, I took the HPI DirtClaws and the 1/2" Maximizer's. I had some trouble installing them, but I finally managed. Today was good weather, so I went outside to test. Didn't have the camera, though, but I'll take some pics on another occasion.

Take notice that I'm not a pro, but a beginner...

Positive impressions:
- the 1/2" brings stability, it now handles beautiful, can take fast turns more easily than with the stock wheels.
- dirt claws have a lot of traction, tried them om gravel and grass and grip beautiful;

Negative impressions:
- dirt claws balloon even more than the stock tires. And the ballooning is not on the center of the tire, but randomly on the outside, inside or center.
- when lifted from the ground and WOT, the wheels tremble a lot (on a vertical plane related to the ground), as if they are not centered. This may be the cause of the stock foams that came with the tires.

Overall, I like the grip thet the dirt claws bring, but I think they definitely need to be duct-taped. And the Maximizers are great, the 1/2" offset adds a lot of stability.

Some final questions, plese:

1. I think I have a wheel that is not aligned with the others. The front left wheel (on the driver side, as in a 1:1 car). At low speed the car drives straight, but as I push the throttle, this wheel steers slightly to the outside, so the car turns to the left. I tried lifting the car from the ground and the "steering" becomes more obvious. The other wheel is straight. With the stock tires this problem was much smaller, but I think that with the 1/2" offset this has aggravated. So, how can I align the wheel? What are the steps?

2. As I said, at high speeds and with the car off the ground, the wheels tremble a lot. I think maybe it's because of the stock foams inside? Can you point out a ling from tower (or product name) of some good foams that can also reduce the ballooning effect? I wish to order them a.s.a.p.

Kat, thanks for taking the time to add this information to your thread, ive been wondering about these tires & I'm sure others have too.

1. on your alignment, use the turnbuckles on your tie rods to 'toe' the fronts of the tires in a bit, then use you trim adjustment on your Tx to get your steering straight. see how the rears tires are 'toed in', my fronts are the same but i don't have a pic of it VVV



2. Ofna & Proline make moulded foams that will help your tires for sure. i chose the prolines cuz they were firmer & used a single-wrap of duct-tape & now they don't balloon at all. hit this thread for part # https://www.hpisavageforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7891
 
The ones you told me about, the Pro-Line Standard Series Monster Truck Molded Foam (link here http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPYL5&P=7), are discontinued.

I see they have these ones: Pro-Line 1/8 Truck MTR Molded Foam (link here http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSFU7&P=7).

The specs are the following:

Proline standard (discontinued):
Inside Diameter: 2.96" (75mm)
Outside Diameter: 5.12" (130mm)
Width: 3" (77mm)

Proline (new):
Inside Diameter: 3.18" (81mm)
Outside Diameter: 5.31" (135mm)
Width: 2.36" (60mm)

HPI Dirt Claws:
Outer Diameter: 5.7" (145mm)
Inner Diameter: 2.9" (73mm)
Width: 3.3" (84mm)


So, will these new foams fit inside the claws? The width seems quite smaller...

Thanks for the link, but I live in Romania and to order only these foams will kill me.. the transport cost will be triple as the cost. So I can only order from tower, as we mostly gather up some people and combine our small orders to share the transport cost. So I'm stuck with tower.

And I repeat my question: So, will these new foams (Pro-Line 1/8 Truck MTR Molded Foam (link here http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXSFU7&P=7) fit inside the claws? The width seems quite smaller...

Ya, my pit-crew chief recommended toe-in for better handling in corners; and i can really tear-butt through them now.

sorry bout that Kat, didnt realize your so far away, the new prolines look like theyre for a truggy, not an MT. Lemme look at the OFNA's & hit you back. Bankrupter has used the yellows, but i'll link up the yellow & orange for ya.

Never a bother bud, just got a bit confused.

if you want to pull that silver rop out u have to remove your tranny (i think)
