Ok well boys i have been learning so much on this forum, you could spend days on here and still learn news things every day. Now i may have a stupid question but what are the head shims for. I have herd that they are for the percentage of nitro you are using. Now the question is how many shims for what % of nitro if the above statement is true

with your stock mill, check what the mfg. recomends and go from there
less shims raises compression
but, too much will hurt your engine
all engines are different

you can use head shims to get a little extra out of your run time also as when you ad shimms it incresses the volume so you can lean it out a touch. This takes away from your bottom end though wich can be compinsated for with clutching. but fo just bashin I would just run what the mill manufacturer says to run.

ok thanks. well I'm running 20% nitro and i have 4 different motors, HPI .46, Picco .28, werks colirro .30, and a hotbodies 4.6 , well not running the 4.6 seeing as i can't find tpv to fit the motor.

May be a dumb ? but whats TPV?

I agree with these guys, unless you know what to check I would leave them in there. The thin one can probably be removed but I don't advise it.
