Have about 2 gallons through my 4.6 now. I ruined 2 hot glow plugs so bought 2 cold ones. Ran a little while and now it won't even start. I put one of the hot plugs back in and it fired off. Went back few hours later and wouldn't start again. I'm at work doing this so doing it on breaks. Had a little od fuel left and mixed it in with byrons so don't know if that's any of the problem. Ran probably 4 tanks of it allready. When I said hot plugs were bad they are kinda smashed up in the end. Got a pic and kinda pulled wire back out. 2 things I'm seeing that dosent lol rite is piston and end of plugs are real brownish rusty looking and other thing is I'm seeing fuel coming from behind flywheel building up dirt and gook on frame. I looked behind flywheel and seal dosent look bad best I could see. Running 30% fuel. 65 degrees outside.

Those engines are meant for 20-25% nitro and medium to medium cold plugs. Perhaps you need some head shims running that nitro content? Also, if your plugs are being "smashed" there is the possibility you are running the wrong length plug. And possibility a front bearing leak. Seems you have alot going on.

I thought about shims as I've read that but why now after 2 gallons? I'm going to get some med plugs and drop nitro a tad. Been running good on 2 gallons tough.

Could be that whatever that has been going on has finally taken it's toll on your engine. Not all issues are immediately seen.

Yea, i thought about just ordering a os or norvossi and rock on. Had engine out yesterday and held on it's side by flywheel and wouldn't flip over so seems like compression is ok.

Got it out today and messed around and think it may have been there was only about a half tank of fuel and wouldn't pick it up. Topped off tank and got it running so we'll see.

30% is fine. Med plug is best but will run on a hot plug. It will gave more low end the top.

The coils are smashed shrunk and red because you are running lean. Thats it. A decent tune will fix you problems.

Now mixing fuels is a bad idea. Every fuel co has their own recipe for oil, methane contents. You change fuel you wilk need to retune.

Thanks, I finished off my mixed fuel and will stick with Byron 30 if I can. She's been running great lately. Outside temps have gotten in 80s and a new glow plug seem to help alot.

Been running alot lately, still running 30% and burning plugs. Thing is med plugs its hard to crank and I bought 2 cold plugs and it won't start at all on them. Maybe need shims, what if I double up on plug washer? Same as shim?
