My Savage has been shelved for 2-3 months and I was not sure what I need to do to prep it before i try to start it. I can not remember if I put afterrun oil in it the last time it ran. I have not tried to turn it over yet. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Al

i would say take the glow plug out put ARO in then turn the crank over a few times to make sure everythings turning ok. put new fuel in the tank and fire when ready. you can get indepth and pull it all apart but for 2 to 3 months i see no need. i had mine away for 2 years and i pulled it out filled the tank and fired...ran fine, just need tuning.

is the engine atleast room temperature? if say your truck was stored in a cold garage or whatever in this case i would preheat the block a bit and a few drops of after run wont hurt, i know i did that when my truck sat for a long time.. its just my opinion but atleast with a few drops of after run in it your not "dry starting" it... i would put a few drops down the glow plug hole and turn it over a few times before starting.. please note this is just what i do and I'm no expert its likely "overkill" but better to be safe.....

P.S.. SAME INFO AS ABOVE LOL HE BEAT ME TO IT GEESH..... LMAO

if you bring it in the house that will help but go one more step and throwthe wifes or girlfriends blow dryer on it. heat that block up good and you will be amazed how big of a difference it makes for starting.
