crash is moddin' up my F4.6 and the front bearing looked suspicious--->https://www.hpisavageforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8408
.
I wanted to replace the front bearing before putting it back together, but the LHS said that you cannot by the bearing without buying the whole eng case cuz the bearing is pressed in there.
.
Bank says 'if they can press it in there, then you can just knock it out & replace it' which makes sense to me.
.
Anyone know what bearing will work/fit in there and maybe provide a link 4 me?:cussing:

Just go to a bearing shop and ask for a 607VV, it will fit no problem. It is a double sealed bearing but you can just take one of the seals off. Should be about $7.

Most engines have the inner seal removed so the bearing can get lubrication from the oil in the fuel. It's realy up to you if you want to remove it, some engines don't have it removed.

thanx guys great info.there is very little info on bearings where is the best place to mail order this creature? also sorry if i jacked this post but i just asked the same question about 6 post ago

Pure, does the 607vv bearing fit ANY .28 or is it specific to the f4.6?, just trying to figure if i should get a couple or a few.

I believe they are a standard size for all big block engines, all the engines I have worked on use this size of bearing.

make sure to heat the block so the bearing is easy to remove. ive been told to put it in the oven at 300 degrees but theres no way my wife will allow it! i have a few good freinds who balance and bluprint there engines for national boat races and one has done one of my motors, never had a problem till i bought a bigger one. hes also a nat champion in his class. You can also leave the inner seal on the bearing it will not hurt it. the passage between the front and rear bearing is called the seal chamber and it stays full of oil when the motor is running. make sure not to scape this area with the crank or your front bearing will leak! hope it helps.

thanks for the tip bro....i'll be sure to wait till my wife goes out so i can "bake" my mill before i replace.

Any 7X19X6 bearing will work, you just have to decide which one you want.

.
Sorry for beatin' this thread to death, i have -0- bearing experience, but I'm sure that the info that you guys are providing will help others in the future. Does this bearing look ok? It does not say "vv":dunno: 😛eace:

Here ya go, I found the bearing kits they offer for the K4.6. The bearing sizes will be exactly the same for the F4.6. You can buy the bearings individualy also. They start at the bottom of page 2.
