I installed a drag link today, and looks like it will not allow full throw once I get my RSC later on. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on this?

I'm not sure why FLM made these with such a big U shape to them, if they went alittle straighter I could just shave the bar that connects to the link alittle.

Here is are some pics of it

Right turn - normal mounting - great throw

Left turn - normal mounting
This is where I would suffer once I get the RSC. Stock steering without the steering mod I think it would be fine, but I'm looking ahead for more throw later.

I could shave it like JoeGuam, but I'm afraid it might weaken the bar too much and end up breaking. Plus it would not allow alot more throw due to the baja steering link hitting the drag link ( can be seen in my 2nd pic)

I think I might have somewhat of a solution, what do you guys think?

Here I could flip the drag link the opposite direction but it would rub on the bulk alittle, but I could suck it up alittle higher by shaving the bar on the steering post alittle.

Flipped left turn - get good throw here but like I said I's have to shave alittle to get it to suck up some. But even then I still think there will be a small amount of rubbing on the bulk(you can see some marks on the bulk in the pic) (raising it would prevent the binding on the small hump where the outdrive is).

Flipped right turn - I'd need alittle shave on the right side some to give it alittle more.

Let me know what you guys think 🙂

the way i fixed that problem was the same way that Joe Guam did it by shaving the part on the servo saver.

Same here i just took the material off the servo saver, I took it all off 🙂
Ran it like for about 6 months didn't break.

Thanks for the input!

Are you guys running the Baja links as well? When I was looking at it, I only have about .5mm maybe less before the baja link hits the drag link. That's why I tried to flip the drag link around closer to the bulk.

Only reason I thought it might break is because J1a1h mentioned that his broke after the shave.

I'm not even sure how much throw I need without the RSC here, so it's kind of hard to gauge it. I might go ahead and just shave my knuckles just to have a better idea.

Thanks for the link.

I seen that too, I might need to get one later on. I'm going to try to get this to work for now. Thanks again.

I actually took the Baja linkage off after I got the Lunksford linkage.

As for the GH aluminum servo saver. The machining on the cam was not all that great. No matter what adjustment I did to relieve the tension on the spring the cam did not budge so the spring load was useless. Plus it was just as much sluggish as the stock so I went back to HPI stock servo saver set up.

Thanks for the info guys!

I went ahead and filed the bars off the steering bars to raise the drag link off the bulk. It was great throw now without any rubbing on the bulk. I did this so I can keep the Baja link and the drag link. We'll see how it holds, it's going to be a while before I get the RSC anyway so I will most likely try the stock steering mod when I get a chance.

I'll get a few pics up this weekend of what I did 🙂

Thanks for everyone's input rockout
