ok so i got a new 1993 f150 xlt for my first car. we had to fix some fried and corroded wires plus replace the multi function switch and key cylinder. while working for some reason the check engine light and abs light and the battery amp light are always on even with the key out. and if i pull the fuse or the battery connection and put it back on the fuel pump runs. plus the engine wont shut off if i start it even with key gone. Any ideas?

Wow, sounds like you may have multiple issues going on there. Sorry, I don't know anything about Ford's. Hope you can get it figured out.

well i found out that if i pull 1 of 2 fuses powering basically the same thing everything works fine. So for now that is good but i also have to finish fixing my windshield wiper motor. replaced it and stupid clips keep popping off.

make sure when u fixed the wires that u didnt wire the abs and battery light to postive for the light if so that will make the lights stay on all the time

and sounds like u got a few wires crossed for sure i would start off by getting a wireing diagram and double check the wires that you fixed sounds like the coil is staying jucied all the times even when key is not there
or it may be starting to get a bad computer in it

when i fixed the wires i only re covered the ones that were burnt or sustained damage from the other ones burning. But right now nothing is wrong or not working with one of the fuses missing. seeing as both of them power basically the same things, i pulled the one that only powered some of the auxiliary things i.e. radio memory but even that seems fine.

to bring all this back up... I have discovered the issue! problem is in the steering column with a broken rod! all is well. time to take my big car off-roading and not attempting the things i do with my savage
