F4.1 crankshaft question. HELP!

Hey guys. I've got a question about the way the little pin from the rotostart engages with the end of the crankshaft on my F4.1

Here is a photo that was already in another post of the rear of the crankshaft in question. This is where the little pin goes in. Question is, is there a spring that goes in there to make sure the pin always sticks out to engage with the rotostart mechanism.

I ask because right now, when I drop the pin inside that hole, it disapears completely inside the crankshaft and is flush with the end of the crank!! I'm thinking I lost a part somewhere???

yep you lost the spring. i have used a piece of fuel tube to replace it before and it works wonders. just slice a thin strip of the tubing that will fit in the hole and cut to length.

Crap!!!!! :duh: Thanks for the replies guys. I'll call my LHS and order a new one. I hate losing parts.....:duh::duh::duh:

It's not too bad. It's only $3.80 for a new one. I'll try the fuel tube trick while the spring is on order.
