I was wondering if anyone has done a diy exhaust extension? I want to use one, but the only ones i find are the red or bright colored silicone ones. Ive used those in the past on my other savage, but I want to keep everything under the lid dark as possible. Any 8deas on diy extensions?

I prefer the silicone deflectors personally. they last a long time and deflect the exhaust away from the chassis parts very well, plus they are available in many colors to match most paint schemes....

Ok, I got lucky and the lhs had a black one. I installed it friday. Took the rig out Saturday(for 1.5 hrs before the rain started) for some running. Kept the chassis nice and clean.
I've heard that they can cause back pressure or tuning issues. Ive never had this happen and Ive used them for years. Performance was dead on. Same explosive takeoff, wheelies on demand, no performance change whatsoever. Ab9ut the only th8ng that changed was the temp. I tune by performance and smoke(and the old school spit test), but occasionally check temps with a pistol style ir reader for reference. It runs a little cooler in grass is all. Where i was running about 240 on dirt and pavement, 250 on grass, now its about 240 both ways. Plenty low and top end punch with no bogging in between. And a nice visible smoke trail.
Just some fyi for anyone that may need it
