Hi Guys

ok..... Hobby shop near me has some

hong nor 32 engines..??????

looking to pick one up if its worth it. I'm running 4.6k stock at the moment would this be an upgrade or a down grade

any help would be great.
guy in the shop isnt much help big english barrier. the pigeon english gets old very fast

he points '' this one good''
i say '' how good ''
he gives me the thumbs up.............
i say ''fits savage''
he says ''hmmmmmmmm yes savage yes savage''
i say '' will my exhaust fit stock?''
he says ''yes yes i stock''....... see!!!
i say ''no no you numty, i know you have the stock..... do i need a new exhaust ?''
he says ''you need tire''

32 is big. I wonder what it's cloned from.

I can only imagine the stories. My brother spent 6 years in Southeast Asia, and he told me some good ones.
 
the worst thing he is also trying to flog me a hpi 5.9 ........... don't get me started last thing i need is a paper weight..

this is what worries me lol

strange place out here went to one model shop in saudi. they only stock Baja (hpi mind)
the other place in jeddah only stocks planes and drones........ the dude tried to sell me an os .30 engine...... until i opened the box. it was for a plane !!!!!!!! random days... but managed to pick up a JR servo with 25 kg pulling power..... cost me around 70 bucks....... not bad me thinks.

Ok so... looks like Ofna is a distributor for Hobao and Hong Nor. There are some YouTube clips of their stuff in a savage. If the price is right, I'd say give it a go!
 
Yes Hong Nor is a division of OFNA I have that exact engine in my XTM MMT and it is truly a beast...

I think it's worth a punt.

I can see its a direct drop in from the shops selling it in the UK. But any ideas on gearing...... I guess I would get a new clutch bell and spur but what size or leave stock....

just for the record picking up the hong nor 36 in a few weeks I'm away traveling for a week with work. sunny Riyadh here i come.

i be leaving the gearing stock for now until i see how its runs. or if anyone has any input would be good

As a dump truck driver, and spending a good many years pulling a flatbed, I find that sort of thing simultaneously hilarious and infuriating. Some people. Lol
 
WAIT.... WHAT?? He is asking $290 for a Force .32 or .36??
For that money you should buy an LRP ZR.32 or something like that.

Force is used as stock Savage engine.. It ma be a beast as Jam said but...Not worth that much...

Force is just an RTR engine. Nothing more.
Tamiya TNX uses the same engine..

yeah i know it seems pricey.... but remeber the exchange rate and shipping costs.

this is the killer out here. seems the dollar is (how shall i say .....) a bit pants.

things seem very expensive out here. but when you live and work here it works the other way.

same as when i got my ss kit form ebay
the kit was cheap 299 dollars
all radio gear and servos was 100 bucks

shipping cost (don't ask)
customs clearing (don't ask)

to be honest i paid more for shipping and customs duty then i did for the truck and radio gear.:banghead: imagine i paid almost a 1000 bucks for my stock set up. but with the exhange rates for me thats a steal. basically i tripple my money in the states. when i head home to london i double my money 😉

kind of how it works here... yeah its a bummer but what to do.

i save in other places ....... lets just say to fill my car up at the pumps (real car not rc :cat: ) i pay LESS THAN 15 dollars THATS FOR 55 LTRS. of Bahrani premium camel juice.......:cow: (only have a cow icon no camels) message to moderators please update i need a camel icon

so when you add all this up its very difficult to moan about the prices. its just how things are.

and to be honest from what I have been reading about piccos and lrps...... I'm not ready to spend on the extra fuel just for the break in. 4 tanks this, 5 tanks that..... 2 tanks whisper gently in its ear..... 3 tanks stroke the chassis....... one tank spank it gently.... oh and don't forget another 4 tanks just for the hell of it...... 😉 maybe I'm wrong but thats the impression. 😉 yes great engines...... also I'm not sure how nitro engines will like being run in a months time..... its gonna be 50 degs and 90 humidity......... me thinks the truck will be stored for a few months lol.

i'm not sure how much you pay for nitro fuel....but again i use VP racing 25 - 30 blend...... this is shipped from the USA i pay 70 bucks a can 1 gallon i believe !!!!!!!!!!!! we have cheap china juice here. sold in the cheapest looking bottles u have ever seen........ but I'm not willing to put that in my truck. even if its less then half the cost.

You are completely right. Go buy this engine and drive the )*^%$ out of it..

A can of 2,5 liters 25% nitro goes for €28 here in the Netherlands. So that is roughly $13 a liter.


Damn shipping and customs....
