Evening rebuilt my savage xl it has a ex 28c engine one issue I start it up it Will run full throttle when I drop rev down it cuts out. Any ideas? Also the pullstart is very slow retracting Will a clean up of the owb help with that issue?

Idle to high perhaps or the low speed is to lean. As for the slow retraction g pull start it will probably loosen up once it's ran a bit. And cleaning it will help but be careful for the coil it'll fly out in some cases.. yet spraying wd 40 in the pull start cord hole to loaeb it up a lil just a lil though.
 
Thanks for reply. Took pullstart off wound cord around a couple more times. It fired up first time a lot easier ain't got batteries in so couldn't keep it reed properly. Don't panic couldn't run away from me I had the spur gear off didn't want to rip teeth. Sounded good tho first time its been started in a while. When you say idle to low how can I reset that. Is it the screw that controls the gap in carb? If it is it didn't seem to do.much when I turned it. Hope I'm not sounding stupid still new to this.

Yeah it's the screw that adjust the gap in the Carb.. if the servo isn't letting it fully close then adjusting g the screw won't do anything.. and don't start the motor with nothing on it to make resistance.. such as the clutch and spur gear. It'll rev like crazy..
 
Oh rite remember that then on way ti work now so ill rebuild spur tonight.
Was scared of ripping teeth as it was first time I started it I guess if its off floor should be ok. Practiced the mesh set up last night think I got it correct on the second attempt. Sweet. Can't wait to get this one going got a rush evo at moment and that seems fast I heard the savage is a beast. Only paid £40 for it.

Opposite problem now starts up.and ticks over ok adjusted the low speed needle so ticks over slower. When I rev it fast it bogs and cuts out if I rev slowly up to speed its ok for about 10 seconds then cuts out.
Low speed needle is flush high speed needle is 2 turns open from the closed position. Could using to thinner fuel pipe be a issue? Also bottom of my fuel tank there is 2 lugs with fuel pipe attached to each other wondering wot that was for.

Never ran 15 % I use to always run 20 but have recently switched to 30% now it runs cooler with a little more power and holds a little better tune IMO
