hey guys i've been researching on some of the more popular engine swaps that some of you guys are doing to your savages. i bought my savage last week and its completely apart getting ready for the larsen racing carbon fiber treatment. i was just wondering what were the circumstances that you were in that made you decide to swap out your original engine.

did you just run the engine into the ground and decided to upgrade...did you enjoy the original engine but after a short period of time you needed more power...or were you just completely unsatisfied with the original engine and had to replace it with something that had bigger balls?

i'm just wondering what the major reason would be. i wouldnt mind buying a beefier engine and just have the 4.6 as backup. what do you guys think. i don't wanna go over 300 dollars for a new mill. by the way this isnt my first nitro. i had a firestorm and mg16. thanks

i think most just wanted MORE POWER!! LOL I'm sure some swapped engines out of neccessity" blown" but most I'm sure will say they just wanted more power!! the hpi engines are great but there is more power to be had out there!!

I changed engine for more power, first an Axial .32 but the front bearing blew, had to wait 4 weeks for a boca front bearing so picked up a LRP whilst waiting for the bearing to turn up, Now I have 2 mills I can choose from when I go out bashing/racing 😱)

I think a lot of people change so they can pull wheelies with ease...

I changed from my stock f4.1 after about 8 gallons which still ran strong but landed hard upside down cracking the block and over cooked. That motor would pull wheelies on demand. Purchased an Axial RR had bad luck with front bearing never made it threw break-in Send to Axial who replaced and I sold it. Purchased a used Axial .28 and is now worn our. I'm looking to replace with something but not exactly sure what probably the Picco P3 or LRP.

Right now I'm running the HPI .21BB (The stock engine from a Savage .21) but will be switching as soon as I gather the funds to an LRP Spec 3 .28 but maybe a Picco P3 .28.

i switched from my f4.1 after i burnt it down and replaced it with the hpi k4.6 as i knew they were made by axial and my lhs had one in stock so i didnt have to wait.. next mill will be a lrp or a picco but i would like to try modding the 4.6 first

Its best to just run the stock engine into the ground.

That's what i did with my s25

And now its been used is much that there are little pieces of the sleeve that look like glitter everywhere! and it still runs...I think LOL!
