Engine locked 5.9k

I'm berely starting my 3rd gallon of fuel through my 5.9k and while using it it shut off and locked. I tried turning over but no luck any thoughts why it did this? Also is it worth fixing or just get a lrp or sh p8 engine what are your thoughts? Thanks lmk

really depends on what went wrong. but if u got the budget go for a new engine

Well, if its really locked, you have no reason not to mess with it while your waiting for the new one get there! I highly recommend the LRP Z.28R Spec 3 for a killer out of the box motor.

What roto start will work with the lrp engine i don't like pull start. Also isnt the dh p8 the same as the lrp? Another thing i see that the sh p8 is a 8 port engine while the lrp is a 7 port will the power be noticeble? Thanks lmk

LRP makes two different roto plate adapters. One is and adapter that allows the HPI roto plate to be installed as it is a different size, and the other is an LRP backplate which rotates so you can change the position of the roto shaft input to make it easier to get to in different vehicles. Pretty cool feature with that one but I stuck with the pull start and haven't looked back. Not sure about the other brands but is cheap at tower:

Not sure why they list it as as a 6+1 port engine when the manufacturer site says 8+1. Tower just may not have updated info for the newest models:

Another question i don't want to buy a tuned pipe just yet but will the cen pipe work good on the lrp or will the stock 5.9 pipe be better? Thanks lmk

Not real sure about that,but when you go to buy a pipe i would go with the OFNA 086 on the lrp.. Good pipe for the money..

Does anyone here know the size of the stock xl clutch shoes? I'm trying to see if ofna clutch shoes will fit thanks lmk.

as long as the ofna shoes are a 3 shoe set up they will work

I recommend the Dyanmite DYNP5180 Max-Life clutch shoes with Mugen 1.0 springs. I've been running this setup for a long time now. Absolutely no reason to run aynthing else IMO. A lot of other people on this site run the same ones and I don't recall anyone not liking this setup.

On another note I'm going to order my engine through tower hobbies but do you guys know if tower sells the shims to shim the diffs to install the bp diffs thanks lmk.

The BP diff sets came with enough shims to get them right IMO.

Couldnt be happier with it. It's ridiculously loud so if you run in your neighborhood you may get complaints. I've gotten complaints before a couple of times. Tons of power with the LRP Z.28R Spec 3!
