Diff help

Ok so pulled my diffs down, cleaned and added diff oil. Just a question with diff reassembled when rotating out cups it feels very segmented, diff turns ok but you can feel each slot as the gears mesh.
Is this normal?

NO it means something is binding, it should be pretty smooth when you rotate the outdrives or center gear......
time to check shim placement and try again.....

Thanx Jam, I thought as much bugger I don't have enough shims, thing is when I pull on the out cups it takes a bit of force to get it to where it is pretty good. Everything is installed correctly

I reused the original ones, this has probably contributed to the problem
