Degreasing diffs

I got new xl diffs last week and I took them apart last night to clean them up so I could put the correct wt. grease in them. I found that goo gone works great for this half an ounce and a tooth brush did two complete diffs just though I would share for anyone who is looking to degrease anything.

Didnt know that I like to use brake clean too.

WD-40 is a great degreaser as well, it breaks down the grease very fast and cleanup is simple.

+1 on the brake cleaner or even starting fluid, the cheep stuff from Wal-Mart works great.

i use mobile one, or lucas red and tacky, from the ring and pinion, and oil in the diff. I'm going to run 10k in the front , and 7k in the rear.

I use muc-off degreaser spray in my diff cups or anything else that needs degreasing, its pretty good stuff you can just spray it in the cup, its got pretty good pressure in the can so the spray hitting the gunk in the cup in most cases is enough to clean them out, if its built up real thick n nasty then a little brush and scrub gets it out.

Iv used it for years for cleaning my mountain bike gears, chain, crank chainset etc(used to do alot of amateur freeride) which is fiddly and you need an array of different shaped brushes to do it properly but it certainly makes it easier and its safe on pretty much all surfaces (rc paint i don't know) but most metals and plastics, well its never harmed my £2500 freeride bike anyway lol

I use nitro fuel to get ride of the Oil. Works wonders !

Tried WD-40 on my diffs today and it worked very well. Great idea.
