Thanks Travis. I have a great truck and almost the best handling truck. I am only as good as a drive. My oldest son has a better control with the throttle than me. Not Joking. I have a heavy finger. Put in a good word for me with SPI racing wheels maybe I can represent out here in Japan.

Yeha man ill see what i can do.

Wing mount modification

I experimented with this route first

poop I murdered the slots and if I did not scratch it up it would have been fine. :smilieflush: and said humm lets try another. To much measurements and angles. KISS METHOD: KEEP IT SIMPLE ST***D. LOL

This is what I am going with for my wing mount.

Multi holes for different heights

The more I get used to this 1/8 Baja body the more I am starting to like it. I still have two others that will finish the truck build.

Both the mounts worked but I liked the second one more.

Her man i can see that thing getting tore up. I would recommend the prc wing mount. its the best

I agree with the PRC wing mount being the best. I wanted to try anything that don't required cutting the body. I gave it a shot and time will tell if it holds up. If not then I will go with the PRC Wing mount.

looks quite good but def would not hold up to any abuse... Are you going to try anything else or just stick with the PRC?

hey joe......truck looks sick man.....gotta get er DIRRRRRRRRTTTYYY!!!
(look who's talkin!!)

I would say nothing is indestructable. The plate is pretty thick with it mounted to the bulkhead, tower, and bumper. I push back on it and it lifts the front tires off the ground without it bending and changing the angle. The wheelie wheel is right there as an additional support.

I'm waiting for my drive force to arrive. USPS is killing my suspense. I drool when I watch your videos. Thanks Matt, good to hear a compliment for a person who is a hard critic.

I guess there is only 1 way to find out:chainkiller:

When are you hoping to take take the truck out???

As soon as I can get the motor in the videos will soon to follow. In the mean time I'll just keep looking at the truck and try to figure new dumb ideas. <--The truck get heavier each time I add parts. Matt your help speak alot about you. Thanks bro

Wing Mount

Wing Mount

If interested, this is how I did the wing mount.

1ST I measured the distance of width between the two bulkhead bolts; and the rear distance of the bumper space. They are both approx 2 ½ which is going to be my width of plate.

2nd I measured the distance of working length from securing point (bulkhead to height of wing mount). I went with 6 ½ inches

3rd I traced the length and width onto the 1/8’ plate and cut.

4th Bend approximately ½ “ for the shock/ bulkhead and mount to secure in plate in place. Use a carpenters square to make sure your bend is a 90 degree.

5th Measure another 3†for the distance from the tower to bumper and make another 90 degree bend. Now you are left with 3†to work with for your wing

Make sure your mount reference is leveled

For the measurements and drilling of the holes. I divided the width (2 1/2) in half giving me 1 1/4.

Again make sure your lines to mount are straight.

Measure the distance of wing mount holes. 1 1/2

9cd4b6f9.jpg

Divided 1 1/2 in half giving me 3/4 mid range. Placed the measurements on the plate (centered). Line references the area to which the holes are to be drilled.

Multiple holes for different mount heights.

.

Screw the mount from the rear and drill in the front to get the lower mounting holes.

Now I fliped the wing mount opposite of its normal position and mount to your preference. Check one last time for the level.

I know the "how to pictures" are not complete, hopefully you can figure how I did it by the pictures.

nice pics... looks pretty self explanatory! BASH IT once you get the motor, or you could test it by just dropping it upside down 🙂

Haha! I did the 1 inch drop test and still straight as an arrow. LMAO I will just wait for the bash. I finished painting one of two bodies. UMMMM pretty decent. When you expect too much from a spray can like me, you might be pretty dissapointed. Oh well, it is what it is. I will post the picture later.

nice paint job joe! I like the body!!! I see your using the Big Joes to good use... Too heavy to use but look great in a photoshoot 🙂

looking good joe

Nice.........good color combo Joe..... i like a lot!

I agree and is pretty well for spray cans. My father had a 69 Chevelle SS 396and it kick a** so I still admire Chevelle's. I have used my Big Joes against others with my sons E Revo brushless vs other E Revo Brusheless with lighter tires and I did well in the grass and gravel. Thumbs down on dirt and road. I am thinking of buying an air brush system in the near future and try my luck. It is harder to paint RC bodies vise vehicals due to the tight spaces. In addition, masking for multiple colors are a pain in the butt. Thanks guys for the comments. I have a least one more body to figure a paint scheme.

Looks good man! You do the flames yourself, or did you have stencils? Either way, they came out nice.

I had bought a Japaneses stencil kit at a craft store. It was an experiment to see if it would be decent. Maybe I should have done twice the flame to make it look wild. I think I am going to get a plexi glass and try a couple passes with it before making another attempt.

Just to put it straight. I am no way an expert but a Noob that is learning along the way.😛eace: Thanks again for looking and commenting.

I have not posted in a while so here are updates

The (8) stock shocks are history:chainkiller:. I finally received my BB shocks yesterday.

I mentioned replacing all the stock screws and thus far I have posted majority of them. Here are the shock screws and nuts.

Thanks Joe for the commplemtent. I run 30 on mine and run the stock shocks on the inside with no spring with canolo oil in them. That way the truck acts like a real monster truck.

The big bore acts as a rebound
And the stock shock acts as the obsorber.
🙂

My dad used to drive a monster truck he taught me that

great idea travis... i may do that just on the rear as to help with jumps etc...

Joe the BB are loooookinnngggg ggggoooooddddd!

I need some of those spacers which pull the shock away from the top of the shock tower... Where do you get them???

Are you running the stock springs that come with the BB? i found them too soft so i ended upgrading to the white springs. I may even get some yellow ones for road use to give great handling...
Joe you need to get that thing dirrty! When is it going to be completed???

Trust me, I am anticipating the time when I drop the motor and pipe in. Yes it is the stock BB springs (pink). I will purchase other springs to have different choices depending if I run it on the road or Bash.
