crash thanks for the help spec is killer evan on 20 per killer wheeles hadnt put on my track yet might halft to do more tweekin but.. thanks man

today I bought my second gallon of fuel in the Axial

because of the fuel shortage I had to switch fuels.

They only had HPI powerblend 30% available

has anyone ran this stuff before?

The HPI fuel works fine

although, after a tank or two I noticed it was looseing its tune so, I checked the needles and found the high speed was loose.

I did a leak test on the carb and I have two orings leaking

high speed and low speed needles

one gallon of fuel and I need orings on this carb. seems early to me

o`well

ok, got the truck back together.

bashed it over the holiday weekend, ran great

so I brought it home and took the engine out...lol

I finally got enough info from several promodders on how to get gains from changing timeing.

I pulled the crank and removed .02mm from the closeing side of the crank journal.

Then I just did minor modding on the port openings smoothing them out, no fangs yet.

got to test one tank after modding and I can see a good improvement through out the powerband

(my price reference is to the price I paid at lhs)

I can get you one, break it in and then do the engine modding descibed in this thread.

how much would you charge for all this as i said i am in okinawa so i don't have to many options over here and as of now i am looking at a nice expensive toy that i can have my son push while i drive. Just not as powerfull though.

pm sent..........

ok put 47/19 in it yesterday, its pulling just as hard. and the powerband seems to be a little smoother through out.

I am going to moddify a Revo spur to fit and gear evan higher to see
how it runs.

I will also, hook up the gps and see if I can break 42 mph (my record)

:drunk:

your going to end up with the first 60mph savage crash if you keep experimenting lmao

well I went with a 20 cb for now

it is running fast with this setup

it still wheelied with the GPS strapped to the front end

I hoped for more speed but, these wheels are the size of Nubzs
so they are very short.

I will leave this setup for a while, see how bad the clutch pads
wear.

This is the middle of fourth gallon on this mill.

Its been clocked and flowed several times and is still
perfect

Yeah I think your tires are whats holding you back .. You need something that will balloon like crazy.. The more they balloon the more top speed you will achieve

I tore the engine down today for inspection and to replace a cracked piston skirt

engine looks perfect on inside

I did go at the crank for some more flow work

otherwise, just cleaned polished and assembled back up for tonites test run (scroll down for results)

I installed the x style wheels on the rear of truck and disconnected the front wheel drive.

had to get a set of new exhaust gaskets for pipe and header.

so, I am ready for the late nite test at K Mart parking lot

I know we will see some gain here........lets see how much :drunk:

BBL with GPS results

I'm back :(

not great 44 mph

It was fun though, it would lift the front end up with the slightest bump in road at full tilt

so, in conclusion of operation speed I would say this mill doesnt have the topend to impress
evan after the modding Ive done to improve the performance

I will stay with this combo for a gallon. (47/20)

it still wheelies on command and has a topspeed of 44 mph

Dan, won't runnin a big diameter tire help with the top speed? It's just a thought I had.

new mods to sleeve transfer ports

test to follow pics

just did some test running, ground is wet from last nite
so I got very little traction at all

Its reving up nice, I cant tell the difference without some traction though

I am running a used piston from mega rite now

I found a hairline crack in the stock piston

I am noticing a loss of compression when its hot.

It still has power but, if I shut it down and try to restart it
there is not enough compression to start it rite away

I am curious what our promodders here think of the mod.

the sleeve was a 7 port now its a 4
I removed the center post in the boost and transfer ports

Looks good Crash, the post removal looks like it went over well. There are a few things to consider with this kind of modding. One thing to watch for is the piston catching on the port opening especialy on the transfer ports, without the post in the middle the top and bottom of the piston "could" get hung up on the port. The other thing that happens when you remove alot of material from the inside of an engine is it will raise the internal volume of the engine. The results from this may cause less transfer of air/fuel into the combustion chamber (less pop) causing the engine to become a little more lazy. This can be overcome to a degree by adding a ramp (plug) in the front of the crank to help fill in for the material that was removed. to bad that piston didn't have a better fit, it will be harder to see what kind of performance and gains you made.

Thanks Robin,

great idea to ramp the crank. I did get a test run in today, its hard
to say how sucessful it was. Its cold and damp here and it is just
spinning the tires mostly.

I will do some more testing before I decide to replace the sleeve and piston or not.

I like the engine but, I piston and sleeve set with rod cost almost as
much as a new sport class mill

thanks again Robin. good to see ya
