Ok had the savage tuned to perfection the other day. Only thing is that I have ot get my tranny set correctly. Well I started her up yesterday and engine was racing picked her up off the ground and the tires were spinning like mad. Tried re setting the LSN then the carb. Turns out that I had to richen the LSN about a 1/4 turn. I only had her set about 1/8th of a turn in from factory to begin with. Well she ran fine temps were good but next time this happends should I not run the truck? I mean the day I tuned her it was about 70 degrees not much humidity. The day I had problems it was about the same temp but the humidity was in excess.
 
Check your throttle linkage. Sounds like it may not be closing all the way. If this is the case then adjust the throttle trim on your remote.
 
Yep, just like FX said, there can be a little play in the linkage and it can really mess people up with the idle tuning.
 
Good point I'll check that. It seemed to be closed all the way, but then again I never checked that while I was out with it. Cool guys thanks. BTW I did the ofna throttle linkage mod, and everything seemed to be working before this happned. OH well nothing major all part of the hobby. Thinking about putting an OS 28 once this motor goes.
 
Gotta check to see if its binding or why it would be open. GOD I GOT TO GET OUT OF WORK SO I CAN ENJOY MY TRUCK... Thanks fellas
 
hello... well was going to chime in but everyone gots you coverd it looks like ...everyone on this sites getting really good at helping ppl out in a hurry it looks like ... and every ones getting fasat at diognosing the problems to .. some ya are masters already lol .. good job guys ... tc happy bashn...
 
Well I checked what you guys said to check and it looks like my throttle return spring came loose. Thats what was causing my idle to go up. Funny thing is I don't remember it comming off the first time it happend. How do you prevent the idle return spring from comming off. That loop/hook that attaches to the base of the HSN isn't the most secure means of mounting it. I remember this from my last savage I had.
 
I know that thing was terrible on my XL, I just took a pair of needlenose pliers and made the bend in it twist around the HSN more so it wouldn't come off.
 
Thanks guys. I also noticed that my brakes become loose as I drive. I may not have them adjusted correctly. I just picked up the duel disk fiberpad setup hope it works well.
 
come lose as you drive? you meaning they get where they start stopping your truck slower and slower? instead of being really strong and crisp? if thats the case its the batteries or battery pack getting weak...charge or replace the battiers in the truck ..also bend yoiur break lever twords the rear of the truck at the base of the cam shaft so it pulls the breaks harder.. good luck tc happy bashn.
 
Probably not the best advice to give but I don't even use a throttle return spring. Less work my servo has to do and other all smoother operation. Most people use some sort of throttle return but I don't. Until you get the linkages perfected I definitely recommend using some sort of throttle return even if it's a rubber band.

Actually thats what I ment to say. Battery pack wears out quick. Got a 1600V receiver pack. Its a marathon pack (no pun) LoL

How long should a pack like the one I have last? It's brand new. I'm not running around the track just kinda up and down the street. Knew I should have purchased a different pack. Any recommendations?

Well maybe my charger isn't up to the task but I get about 4 tanks before she starts to fade out. I notice that the brakes become weak after the thrid tank or so. Seems rather quick if you ask me. Or I have my brakes set to tight and thats causing the battery drain. Seem to last a long time when I was breaking her in but now kinda dies real soon.

i olso don't use a return spring never hurt me.
