As far as I know there are not step by step instructions on doing this. Its all trial and error. You must completely understand engines before grinding. Buy as for Cranks you can lighten. Cut extra or more aggressive scoops. Polish, change timing, etc.

About the crank mods, grinding on the counter balance. What is the purpose of this and the "scoop" on the end of the counter balance. Is this like balancing a crank in a car? I'm trying to understand more before I start operating. The more info the better. THX in advance.

The scoops are cut to direct the air/fuel mixture to the combustion chamber. You don't want to cut to much on the counter balance or you will take the balance out of the engine.
