Anyone here do carpet racing? I took it up this winter as something to do and am really enjoying it. The amount of stuff I have learned is incredable and will be very helpfull this summer with Nitro Off Road stuff.

You also learn alot of driving skills that you would never learn driving off road but they will make you a 10x better off road driver. With carpet there is no room for error in driving style so you learn good driving habbits and throtal control which makes a world of diffrence out in the dirt.

You also learn a ton of setup things. When on carpet there is no margin for being even 1mm off on anything so you learn very quick how to set up cars and how each thing effects over all handling and ultamatly lap times.

I won't lie it is not cheep to get into the tools that you need are incredable and a good carpet car costs the same as a good 1/8 scale buggy or truggy but at the end of the day it is fun and you learn alot.

Alex can you post pics of your car and gear needed? Group of guys at the LHS are hookin up sat nights for indoor open class racing (for fun).

Been thinking about doing it.

I don't have all the gear yet and I am just running mini right now next year I will move up to 1/12 scale pan car.

You should give it a go Freddy it is a blast and you learn alot.

I have been racing a T4 on a carpet offroad track for the first time, it's a blast.
It was an adjustment from racing a nitro mt then going inside with a T4. My first race I smacked the wall at the end of the straight away and busted an a-arm. If I had been outside I would have just gone over the pipe made a quick u turn and been on my way. Inside those walls don't move! I do love the clean up, quick blast of air and done!

when you race truggy, you learnt hat everything can make you or break you. Ive done both and i think offraod racing takes way more skill in the setup range but till is fun no matter what

No. I was thinking of getting one of the mini cooper's for the wife if she wants to race though.

Like I said the 1/12 scale and stuff is for next year MAYBE. I am just racing the rc18 for the rest of this year. Savage weather is just around the corner anyway. 🙂
