Well for some time now I had been having troubles with an axial .28 spec 1s that was next to new (only 2 quarts in) and it had ceased on me once and I did not know why. I did a teardown of it to inspect it all and see what had been going on, since axial support had been telling me that it was simply "still breaking in". However, when I cannot turn over the crank with a giant breaker bar attached, I find it hard to believe them. After cleaning the engine up it would turn over, start up and run.. and then it ceased on me again... SO.. I tore it down and found this main bearing for the crank and took some pictures.. I believe I have a broken bearing causing all of this 🙁

Yea man you need a new rear bearing .. the inner race gave way
if the engine is that new then I would say warrenty .. Depends tho b/c when a race gives way like that you might have got it to hot

Pretty rediculous considering it only has two quarts. new bearing is like $26 + shipping... wonder what axial could do about this.

judging fromthe pics u lost alot of the balls from the bearing, hope they dent do to much damage to the motor.
If I were u put the motor back together and send it to axial and see what they do.

I don't think I lost alot of balls out of the bearing, I think they just all bundled up on one side.. and yea I think I might just send it in to them and see what they think about this engine just needing to "break in" lol

there's suppse to be balls going around the whole bearing u los alot of them. It ahold look just like the front bearing all the way around. That motor ran the balls through it, check the piston and sleeve very well, also the block.
Call axial tomorrow and ask them what they want to do.

I think your right jeremy. How many balls are there suppssed to be? I count 14 in his. If u didn't guess u were lucky

ahh don't tell axial you opened it for somereason if you do they say you void warrenty and bla bla lol so say your issues and leave that you took it apart

yep all he lost is the cage that holds them = junk.... send it in and don't over rev the next one ... lol

Yes, axials CS sucks, Period don't mention it to them that you opened it up or you will have a fight on your hand's to get anything out of them. Also try avoid talking to Paul Colman so you can get farther. They will immediately require you to send it in to them. Do so, they will fix it and send it back.

Before putting it back together inspect it as you will get the same parts back minus the bearings.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

In the very first pic you can see the sleeve .. In that pic the sleeve looks warped BADLY Could be a optical illusion but it looks bad

I second that on the Coleman guy! Good Luck

Coming from the several stories I have heard from others about axial customer support I did not expect much from them. Going into the initial phone call from them as always with tech supports I expect nothing but hope to get "something". I spoke with Paul from axial and he explained to me about my bearing and he told me it would be replaced and shipped back for free. He installed a brand new crank case and both new front and main bearings on the crank. Hats off to axial for doing the right thing here 🙂. After inspecting the engine I am satisfied.

yeah don't tell them you tore it down. just send it in, turn your macro on when you take close ups like that, they will come out much more clear

f1n3sse, he had gotten the motor back from them already with new parts and ready to run. Also, I believe he is a tad to far out for macro depending on the camera.
