So I found a nice looking Jeep Cherokee for sale and bought it. It is a 1990 Cherokee, 4x4, 4 door and has the inline 6 4.0. Even has leather interior! Here is the bad thing...it had an electrical fire around the battery, thinking something shorted the battery out and it went from that. Even came with a harness that has already been pulled from another Jeep, so I spent today pulling all the wiring out of it so I can put the new harness in it. Has 143k miles on it. Fire didn't look too bad, just melted a bunch of the wires and battery and everything else is fine. Heck even the hood is virtually untouched!! Oh and best thing, only paid $300 for it! Hoping to fix it and possibly sell it.....

Have to get pics of it soon....might make for a new DD until I get my truck

After only spending $300 on it, put a lift kit on it, some 33" tires, a winch, and take it wheelin!!!

Cool deal Parker. If you do plan on keepin it, word of advise, your gonna have over heat issues with that motor. Problem is that the radiator is too small. A guy I used to work with has the same thing and is constantly havin over heat issues with it. And he's had the whole cooling system redone and it still exists. I've got a 94 Grand with the 5.2 V8 and don't have any problems with. and it's pushin 220k miles. And still rides smooth as can be.

Well after about 20 hours worth of work I got the Jeep fired up! I had to completely remove the old harness and put the new one in. Took a while to start up and once it did it was puffing out chunks of dirt or whatever the heck was in it. Pretty excited as I only have about $400 in it and that is with the purchase price of the vehicle, battery cables, tags, and insurance.

Keep us updated with the project! I want to build a Cherokee at some point. I was thinking a 2 door variant with an exo cage.

Pictures of me stuck will come soon I'm sure! Got some new tires on it. I picked up a set of 235/75/r15's for $100 and I couldn't pass them up since I wouldn't even drive it with the old tires.

I took it off-roading a little bit the other day. Drove along some power lines through the ditch and up a huge hill witch happened to have ruts all up and down so that was fun, didn't get stuck though...yet

I'm looking at getting a warn xd 9000i winch for it soon and make my own bumpers in metal shop.
