Ok I got a BlackBerry 7230 from a friend. I got the charger and all I get is a red light at the top, I had it come on the other day without any probs when I had it on the computer to try and charge it. Anyone know what I can do to try and get it to work again?

Thanks

Ok cool. Well I finally got it to come on and I think it is charging.....just took about an hour since it has been sitting for about 6 months. Anyways I got it on and all but how the heck do I make a call on it or receive calls?

I can text message but haven't figured the calling out yet...lol

Well, that looks like one of the original blackberry's ... I think that's similiar to the old on-call blackberry our team had last year (we have since got a Blackberry Curve for our team). I think there is a scroll wheel on the right side, and you push it to take calls. But I can't recall how to hang up a call. I can't remember now :duh: ... by the way, Blackberry Pearl is way cuter 🙂

I googled a couple of links talking about can't make or receive calls... hope it helps. Which carrier do you have, maybe you could call their custom service? They may also need to reset your phone or something. Have you tried to remove the battery and take out the sim card and put them back? 🙂

Thanks for the help Twinkle! Anyways I did get it working. Somewhere along the way the software got deleted or something (I got this phone from a friend) and he said he couldn't make calls on it so he didn't want it. So I just had to reinstall the phone software and I am good to go now......

Now I just want a newer one, lol. Looking at the BB 8700g

I gotta admit, the wheel is extremely easy to use. I can't beat this phone for free though except I now want a 8700g or one with a camera

I have been running a black berry for a few years now and love them. Thank god I don't pay for it cuz I don't thing i'd have one beings ya gatta have data on Verizon or Alltel. I get all my work email and all thru it so it's very nice to have.

Yeah I have T-mobile. I would like that data plan but not right now. I am just going to keep this one and then when I get a stable job that isn't seasonal I will get my own plan with all the goodies!

cool, glad you got it working 🙂 What about a BB Pearl (it's cute) or BB Curve? 🙂

I've been maintaining Blackberry Enterprise Servers for several clients for a long time. I've seen the BB's grow and advance into a really sweet handheld. (Still my favorite)

For the record the pearl might look better, but for functionality the wheel rocked!!
