My Savage has been sitting there for couple months now. The weather is getting warmer. Now looking for an engine...

Here is what I know so far:

Axial .28, SH.28 8 Port, Picco .28, LRP .28

Axial and SH are pretty cheap.. Picco .28, LRP .28 will come to about $200. (In Canada, Shipping can be expensive).

Any suggestions.

i have one and only one suggestion for you and that is to contact purenitro here at the forum,he is a pro engine modder and actually has some of his modded sh m28 p8's in stock!!plus his knowledge of nitro engines is endless lol

I have had decent luck with sh based engines. I ran the xtm 457 last year which is the exact same engine as the lrp spec 2. This year I have a ercm modded sh p8 .28 which is still in breakin. This motor is the same as an lrp spec 3. As for as the axial engines go they seem to be hit or miss on quality. Some love em and some hate em. Now Picco is the best quality engine on your list . With its billet piston it will last longer than the rest. From what I hear the picco in stock form is not any more powerfull than an lrp spec 3 but it has more potential and a better port design than the rest. So when it gets modded it by an expert like robin it will have the most power of the engines choosen. Hope this helps. Enjoy that savage no matter which engine you get.

These guys got you well covered: ERCM P8 is full drag mod & ships from Inside Canada. Only few more bucks than the stock Picco or LRP & will mop the floor with either.

The thing is that I'm not looking to spend alot of money on it because I still need to spend some money on the Flywheel, clutch, clutchbell etc...

Definitely not something that's $200+. Maybe under $200 for the engine?

well then i would say talk with purenitro anyways, he will steer you right and knows what engines are worth while and which ones to stay away from.
