i just installed the mill and stripped the spur gear on the tranny i mean three of them i meshed it right put the paper threw the gears and it was ok followed hpi instruction on adjusting the gear an installing it i thought i was doing something wrong . because i have changed the gear before . but since i put the axial mill in it's tearing the gears up i have a 49T an 47T i use on the tranny . on the mill i have a 15T an 18T i use also . i also found a stripped bolt that holds the motor mount for the mill. (I NEED HELP) OH yeah it's all the hpi savage x 4.1 stock parts. should i get the metal gear kit from hpi .or any recomendations looking to get this fix (ASAP I'M ON VACATION FOR 2 MONTH'S ) so i only got this time to do it i only can bring out my truck in august and september then back to work in october. thanks guys😎 a link to my pics of the gears don't know how to put them on here. It still has to do with mesh or something is loose. I get plastic spurs to last for many gallons. It could also be heat, is your clutch slipping. Try some aluminum shoes, I run Ofna shoes but a lot recomend Novas which are adjustable.

How old are the clutch shoes, this may be your prime problem.

i would stay with the plastic only because i went to the steel spur gear and went thruogh alot of clutch bells at 12 to 15 bucks a pop. you definatly need a new motor mount and check the plate it sits on . the screws tend to come loose quite often. make sure your clutchbell isnt torn up and make sure your motor is sitting straight in the truck. ive run alot of powerful engines and haven't had much truoble with plastic spurs , at least until my son drives them. ive run the axial 32 lrp28 dynamite, platinum 28, sts.30 all on plastic gears and haven't had many problems. plus the gears are only 4 bucks.

Are the gears stripped or melted??lots of teeth missing or just a couple??got any pics of the damage?I run that same motor in two of my trucks one with the metal gears and one without and no problems as of yet been a year now.If you do decide to go metal you should also use a vented clutch bell as it cuts down on the heat!and has a bit more strength to it!

The Axial .28 has no more power then the F4.6 or K4.6. So if you keep on melting spur gears my guess would be something wrong with the mesh, or a bearing is gone in the clutch bell causing it to move around. The mesh between the Spur Gear and the Clutch bell should have just a very little amount of play.

replace the stripped screw in the motor mount! That's the problem. You mesh it up right then when the motor torqe's up the slightest movement in the mount changes the mesh.

shanty The axial 28 has more power than the k and f series, It may be the same displacement but it deffinatly makes more power, I'm reading numbers that can back this up.

NT , the axial 28 and K4.6 are identical ... now the F 4.6 is like a bigger S 25.
Hey Scrog ,check your engine plate ...make sure you it isnt bent or cracked ... also have you shimmed your transmission at all ? I was killing spur gears left and right ...shimmed the tranny so the spur doesnt slide in and out fo the case and no more stripped spurs ...

thanks guys i did what u all said and it was the engine plate screws gear box screws and some of the screws that holds the engine plate an mill now it's runnig great thanks for the help
