Hey guys,

I'm trying to break in my STS, but I have a problem. I sealed everywhere except the fuel inlet. I get temperatures as high as 300. When it runs it sounds lean, (Unusually idles at a high RPM that a lean engine would sound, but goes away when I give it throttle. Comes back soon after that.) but when I richen it up, it bogs down and dies. I thought it was my idle but the gap is set to 1mm. Could there be a an air leak somewhere?

Make sure all your screws are tight for your head. Also check to make sure there is not a gap around your air filter coupling. Did you seal your carb? My Axial 28 was acting that way and it was pulling air around the carb. Aslo check the seal for your exhaust manifold.

Yeah, I sealed the backplate, carb, and cinches. I think it may be from the HPI gasket on the exhaust. I just checked it and I could feel some oil from there.

I am having this same problem with my Nova 528xrp. I noticed the fit between the header and engine wasn't very tight when I installed it. Does anyone make a fatter header gasket than the HPI purple one? I will add some Copper RTV silicone to the engine to header joint for now.

oh you didn't get the memo? purple = faster. lol. not crazy about the purple either, but savages still  hope someone else has some better suggestions for ya bud

I have been in this hobby for 15+ years and I have learned that a little patience goes a long way with nitro engines. I will find my Gremlin soon enough and then I will be able to see what this Nova 528xrp can really do! It seems like it's going to be a beast considering the power it makes while still running super rich!

I have found that the Ofna-10069 is a fatter O.D. seal than the HPI-87049 seal. Maybe you could try that...

P.S. and it's not Purple....lol!!!
