Several of friends have purchased the .26 and .28 tecnomeccanica traxxas engines. Has anyone heard of tecnomeccanica and is familiar with these engines? From my research I gathered tecnomeccanica does oem for other RC companies and even automobile manufacturers. They are based in Italy and are directed by Rody Roem.

These are the specs I found:

Tecnopower .28 Traxxas Engine Specs:
  • capacity .28 Ci 4,8 cc
  • ports 4 + 2 = 6 ports and 2 cooling-holes
  • ABC setting , aluminium/bronze/chrome
  • hardened 14 mm crankshaft
  • tuned and timed crank
  • aluminium light weight conrod
  • double bushings conrod
  • CNC manufactured burn room
  • Inox STD glow-plug
  • alloy shaped cooling-head 10 fins
  • short 7 mm carburettor
  • 14 mm steel main ball-bearing
  • stroke 17 mm
  • bore 21 mm
  • 38.000 rpm
  • 3,2 Bhp
  • full cnc manufactored engine mount for Tmaxx or revo
  • nitrated gears for electric EZ start
  • Mabuchi 380 electric motor for ez start

Tecnopower .26 Traxxas Engine Specs:
  • Mabuchi 380 started
  • engine mount of choice for Revo or tmaxx
  • CNC machined out of full aluminium engine mounts
  • capacity .26 (4,5 cc)
  • Bore 21 mm case
  • bore liner 17,8 mm
  • stroke 16,8 mm
  • tuned crankshaft
  • aluminium carburettor
  • cnc machined double bushed conrod
  • Port 4+2 ( 6ports) and 2 cooling holes
  • seperate Inox Burnroom with Inox glow plug std
  • 14 mm main bearing steel
  • hardened gears for electric ez starter
  • alloy cooling head 10 fins shaped

Does any of you have any input? I am thinking of getting the .28 to test.

For $210-$230, I wouldn't want to be the guinea pig. Post a video if you end up with one. Not that I need it, but would still like to see it in action.

I have the 21Tm in one revo and an LRP28S3 in my other with a new era leaner mount. I don't drive any of my nitro's much anymore. Couple times a year at most.

I placed my order. I will make a few clips for sure and will definitely push it to its limits.

yes I did. The shipment took 10 days to the US from Europe. The engine came well packed and with a sheet of instructions for breaking it in. It is a direct fit for Revo. So installation was very easy. I followed the instructions to the letter but in the end all was worth it. The engine is very powerful, one might say, almost too powerful!!! The torque is simply insane. I might drop the EZ start though and go with pull start. I really think EZ start motors cannot bear the brunt of big block engines and easily get damaged in the process.

I am in the process of making a short clip. Should be done next time I go to the track.
