    Blown engine no parts available

It may be cheaper to just replace the blown engine than do a conversion. If the engine is available as a part, that’s what I would do. Cheers.

Savage S-25 engine hard to start when warm

Re-pinching should not be an issue as the piston (when cold) is supposed to be a slightly loose fit. An ABC engine is designed so that the piston ( A in ABC) expands at a faster rate than the sleeve (B in ABC) which in turn seals the bore at TDC due to the tapered bore of the sleeve. This is why...

Flat battery run away truck !

The easy remedy is to use a 'fail safe' type receiver. You set it so the throttle goes to idle if signal is lost. Tou can purchase separate 'fail safe' devices, but these have to have their own receiver to work.

    Nitro fuel filter/pressurizer

I run an inline filter on ALL of my nitro engines, regardless if the tank has one or not. It's the last line of defence for your piston and sleeve staying scratch free.

    Midrange needle falling out?

Yes, the threads appear undamaged, I think it's caused by the o-ring being crushed over time allowing the screw to unwind with engine vibration. Cheers.

    Midrange needle falling out?

Have tried a dab of silicon, loktite and other thread lockers. The screw simply unscrews itself no matter what. Maybe this is why the new carbs have this additional screw!? Cheers.

    Midrange needle falling out?

Hi all, Have a problem with my older Savage XL 5.9, the midrange needle constantly falls out. This last time it was lost and I just ordered another one. I see on HPI's website that the newer 5.9 carby has an additional screw that looks like it locks in the midrange needle, mine definitely...

    Roto start won't engage?

Everything is the correct way in, the problem appears intermittent. I got one working yesterday, then it just decided to spin freely again. There has to be a reason for this, it's driving me crazy. Cheers.

Won't apply power at full throttle

Check the slipper clutch, it may be too loose. Tighten all the way then back off 1/4-1/2 turn. Book says 1/2, but I find 1/4 works best. If not slipper clutch, then main centrifugal clutch shoes may need replacing. Cheers.

    Roto start won't engage?

No, it was fairly clean in there. I flushed everything with petroleum spirit, it leaves everything spotless when it evaporates. I just don't understand why these things continue to fail? I think the needles are too hard and the body is too soft, it's gotta be something of that nature causing it.

Rear locked diff in Savage XL

I have one of those diff locks, and have spares because they do break, the axles/driveshafts have never broken in my truck, even when driving on tarmac, but it does hook left real hard on acceleration. They are good for dirt tracks and grass, but again, you need to change your driving style as...

    Roto start won't engage?

Hey all, I have a question about the OWB in my savage XL, I have a few that work then don't work. I just replaced another and it still won't turn the engine over, just spins freely. I cleaned the spares I have and put one in and it does the same thing. I have noticed that the hole in the OWB...

Savage XL won't shift into 3rd gear!

OK guys, I've set everything back to stock, am yet to try it out, my throttle servo has packed it in!poop I'll have to replace the servo and let you know how I get on. Cheers.

Savage XL won't shift into 3rd gear!

Thanks guys. The tune is spot on, and perhaps it is shifting faster than I can tell. But even holding the truck off the ground and giving it a 'rev tune' there is only one noticeable shift, and it hits hard/harsh. The shift is so hard that the entire truck torques up, even when running on the...

Savage XL won't shift into 3rd gear!

Hey guys, Since changing to 30% nitro, my SavageXL will not shift into 3rd gear, and 2nd gear is shifting way out there. I have adjusted everything according to the manual, 2nd gear is adjusted to 3 1/4 turns from flush and 3rd is adjusted to 5 turns from flush. I have run it several times and...

    changing rod end balls?

Hi all, I have a small problem with the Integy turnbuckles I bought, the rod end balls are not the same as the stock HPI ones, and they bind up due to being completely round and having no spacer integral with the ball. My question is: How do I swap out the balls without damaging the aluminum...

    Integy Savage titanium turnbuckles?

Hey guys and gals, I have just received my Integy titanium turnbuckles for my Savage XL, I was told that they would fit right in, but they do not! The balls in the rod ends are not the same as the stock ones, and no spacers of any kind were supplied, also, one of the turnbuckle rod ends is...
