I did consider it but making a nice hex into good quality stainless steel isnt that easy and frankly, I was too lazy trying it so far. Fiber is the next best thing and works also - most of the time. ;)
Pads on steel brakes isnt really an issue. You just don't use pads. Steel on steel with a mod like the one shown below does the trick and brakes just as good as fiber discs but does so also when soaking wet.
However, I did eventually move to fiber brakes because the steel discs are too...
I had the same issue. Theres a thinner available from PlastiDip that allows you to thin that stuff to your liking. Since I didnt have that then and needed it done quickly, I just used a brush. Doesnt look as smooth as a proper dip but oh well, as long as its sealed...
Thats exactly how I see it. Its half the fun of this hobby to make and build little things here and there by yourself.
For example, a couple months ago I saw this stylish and shiny (stainless steel no less!) toothbrush cup/holder somewhere - at the end of the day it was turned into a...
Thanks Scott :)
Zumiez, are those 40 series mashers on your truck? Judging by the rims, I would have guessed the smaller masher 2000, but the low profile suggests the former...
I got a set of 40 series on axial 8-spokes myself and really like them on gravel, due to bigger size even more...
Took these last spring. First and for quite a while the last time I had the monster titan wheels on my savage. They're just too wobbly but probably still nice on ultra rough terrain...
LiPos (batteries in general) don't like low temperatures either. Very low temps not only reduce the capacity of batteries, it can also permanently degrade it, especially with LiPos.
HPI should have gone the whole nine yards and replace the 10x16 bearings with 8x16 to make these truly bullet proof. They missed a golden opportunity there...
I've had the exact same with my XSS tranny when it was new. The thing never shifted into 2nd gear. Opened it up and saw exactly what you described...
Thus, I always advice to check the tranny on savages, kit or RTR.
Just that theres no ballooning at all on my wheels with tape and medium firm molded foams. So, that cant be my issue. I think its the medium sized rocks where I drive - they even cut little holes into the tire wall...
I use molded foams inside taped badlands on maximizers and they do come out of the beadlock from time to time. But its only a small area so its relatively easy to get it fixed in little time...
For now I still prefer them over glued tires, especially my set of proline mashers on axial...
