I am having a problem with my p3. It runs in the 250F range but its at stock settings and it is sealed around the backplate and around the carb. base, the gearing is 17/47 with cen diffs, mid tank and ext flms. The temps flucuate from 230 to 250. I have tried to reseal it, checked fuel lines and tank for leaks, but it dosent seem to help. Also checked for binds and loose grub screws, and the slipper is backed off an 8th turn.
It runs pretty well just underpowered and no wheelies and the weird temps.

I would check your springs and shoes

230-250 is not bad

17/47 with cens? maybe gear down slightly with a stock picco
your at 19/47 aprox. with cens. thats 2.47 pretty high gearing

tru dat. harder to get the wheels up with ext tvps anyway & you'd need to drop down to a 15cb to get your gearing back to where it was with stocker savage diffs

I'm wonderin if the slipper nut is the power-robbing culprit, i don't back off mine off anymore cuz i was gettin no power & stripping out the nylon nut. try cranking it down for a test run & see if it brings your power back. just don't land under power!

+1! Crank that slipper nut all the way down and leave it. We don't need no stinking slipper clutch....

Hey thanks guys, I didnt think about the gearing being to high. When I put in the picco I changed the gearing to 18/47, and back to 17/47 after the cen diffs. I guess i didnt go low enough, and come to think of it the picco ripped before the cens and after its kind of like a stock 4.6.
The clutch and springs are good and slipper is tight so I will change to a 15t cb.
