hi guys!
hav a savage x 4.6 rtr wit nitro star F4.6 hpi motor. would like to change the motor to a faster one. can anybody wit experience recommend me a motor that can reach over 60mph? wit better torque n top speed then the stock motor. somebody recommend me the RB ST28 motor.would the RB ST28 giv me better torque n top speed then the stock motor? any other options?
wat else do i hav to change in order to run wit a faster,performance motor?
 
The RB would be a decent pick. However a better pick may be a Modded Picco P3 28 From Robin or Purenitro Extreme RC Mods which is linked in my Profile. He does great work and I would assume that a light Savage with 3 speed and high end 3rd gear and correct gearing would come close to 60mph if not more.

This will stomp the RB.

wil do more research on the Picco. so with the stock savage 4.6 rtr, i just change the motor(Modded Picco P3 28) wit the hpi 3 speed transmission n high end 3rd gear, is that all n its ready to run?anything else i hav to change?

i saw a few on ebay goin for USD195.97. the engine case size is .21 n the bore is .28. claimed to b 3.3hp @34,000rpm.wen u say moded means is already modified engine wen buy stock from ebay or u stil hav to modified it?
sory for asking to many question as i'm a beginner in the nitro world.

you never have to apologize for asking questions here my man as were all here to help! now to your question, the gentleman "robin" larsen spoke of has partnered with SMF STORE to offer the picco professionally modded by robin himself which will be a totally insane motor, check out his vids at extreme rc mods of his engine mods and you will see what i mean!!

i don't live in the USA. so, i cant get it modified. hav not found anybody ere wer they can do modification on Picco engines.
i live in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia. how can i contact Robin? do u hav his email.
was wondering if Robin can sell me a brand new Picco P3 28 engine modded n ship to me.

Go to the link in my Signature then email them his name is robin. He lives in Canada and will send you a completely modded motor from his shop to you anywhere. Also like SAD stated the www.smfstore.com will be stocking then soon as well and will ship anywhere as well. Both of these will have them modded and ready to go to you and place into your truck.

Also, to reach these speeds you will have to mess with gearing something like 19-20/47 and the 3 speed with HS 3rd gear may get you there but you will have to loose some weight as well.

i hav shortlisted 3 engines to choose,still deciding. is either the modded Picco P3 28, RB ST28 or LRP ZR30 spec 2. the Picco P3 not modded is more or less the same performance as the RB ST28.
wat do u guys think of the stock LRP ZR30 spec 2? 4.21hp. max 38,300rpm.

no one used the new LRP zr30 yet, so no clue about it

with the price of the LRP30 you can get a moded picco
, belive me the moded picco is insane, i saw a video but i am not sure either on you tube or photobucket

wat about Novarossi PLUS 28-7T or OS 30VG? I'm confuse now...juz want the best for my savage.

i think i'm goin for the modded Picco P3 .28. modified by AB Mods.
Larsenracing,wat is a good tuned pipe to go wit the mod Picco P3?
 
Robin is not part of PRC he is just a very reputable modder and is a great member of the site.

Like Max said the 086 pipe is a great match to the Picco 28. Either Ofna or Dynamite make them, if you are stock length the OFNA one is a better choice as the Dyn header wont fit it. But the Dyn is hard coated making it easier to clean and will stay clean longer.

I have seen the specs on the LRP .30 and didn't look to shocking to me. The Picco 28 seams to have better specs and thats stock.

Robin excels with the Picco.

I know very little about the Rossi's. But the OS is a great mill just not as powerful as the others listed however it will be easier to tune and more reliable than the LRP. The Picco will match or beat the reliability of the OS. The OS is also more of a torque monster that reaching the higher RPM's. All around the Picco 28 is the mill to get for the price. Just my $5.

as far as i know, novarossi engines are powerful but not durable as it ment for racing purpose,
OS30 as larsen said its reliable but its an old engine and technology and new engines came and surpassed the OS.

as for the speed and torqe LRP.28z3 is quite familiar and if u want extra quality get the picco .28

RB engines are cool, but no body tested the st28 yet as i didnt see any video or heared any news

if u compared the spec of the RB and picco, u will notice they have slight bore then other normal engines which gives them total of engine size as 4.66

other engines will vary from 4.57 to 4.60 max

u might say what .06 a diffe in bore will get me, belive me any extra hp will do and it does worth it

beside that its not necessary bigger engine means more power

don't forget the 3rd high speed gear which is for 10$ if u got the 3 speed as it will add u more top speed

trust the ppl here and get the picco moded and u will thank hpisf ppl on every meal 🙂

a friend of mine who has contacts wit ab mods says that the modded Picco P3 28 cant b use on the savage bcause it uses starter box n they don't recommend modded engines to use rotor or pullstart. is this true?
i do apologies for making a lot of choices as i'm still new in this matter.
for robust power,better torque n not suitable for racing he recommend me the Novarossi Plus 28-3 stock mil. i don't race, juz a backyard basher so do u think this engine is better then the Picco P3 28 stock?
